BigCommerce Move from Shopify Plus. What You Need to Know!
Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce
We switched over to BigCommerce due to new restrictions put forth through Shopify. Shopify began removing products on our website (as well as competitors) that they no longer wanted on the platform. 100% legal products, but seems Shopify is cracking down on what they allow now. Because of that we needed to switch to another powerful platform. BigCommerce was the one.
Pros
- Allows for Custom Coding
- Built in Apps & Options
- Multistore Functionality
Cons
- App Store
- Backend User Interface
- Community
- Reduction of monthly expenses for development
- Speed was improved, so better conversion rates
- Cost more for customization, as not as many apps available
$1 to $10 million
Having open API's has made customizations and integrations to other platforms a breeze. Specifically creating new apps for just our website. Our developers had a ton of issues doing this with Shopify, but it has been preety much a breeze with BigCommerce. It has made the jobs cheaper for us, and easier for the development team.
We switched from Shopify due to the restrictions they implemented on our industry. While we spent tens of thousands of dollars investing in our Shopify store, we can't have them cutting us off anytime they want. We reviewed WooCommerce, but didn't like the storefront or backend. Plus it seems like Wordpress/WooCommerce runs into tons of hacking issues and bugs.
