Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce
So we have had a Volusion Store for just under 8 years now and do a sizeable business there. As they are losing market share we were worried they may go under and we would lose our site at some point. BigCommerce REALLY pumped up night/day difference and so did web reviews. Our REALITY is, in my experience, their customer support is about 12 levels below Volusion's "standard" support. In my opinion, the inventory control on BigCommerce can not even be called inventory control when compared to Volusion. We have added HOURS each week to our everyday tasks with inventory and categories. In my opinion, the owner/operator experience is not even comparable to Volusion. I STILL feel Volusion is not a viable choice for us anymore due to the scare factor BUT I just want to caution any other looking to move from Volusion to BigCommerce, DO NOT DO IT - DO NOT EVEN START IT. We are in firearms so our choices are limited. We paid a data company to move and match all our data, they did very well in that BUT as we got to using BigCommerce, we realized this was a huge mistake. By that time we had too much time and money into the move. All we accomplished is losing fear of Volusion going black.
- They are "SUPPOSEDLY" better for SEO but we have not gotten data on that yet
- Sales guy was good at what he does (no value to our website though)
- No fear they will go out of business anytime soon
- Customer support is generally available, in my opinion, just not very helpful
- In my experience, customer support FAILS terribly in knowledge of getting a BC site live
- In my experience, the back side/ dashboard is very archaic compared to Volusion, will add hours of work to your week.
- In my experience, pretty much anything you NEED is done with an "app" at additional cost. I think we have a few hundred dollars in apps already on top of cost of BigCommerce.
- I feel coming from Volusion to BigCommerce was so depressing but we do feel secure that the company will remain in business. We are looking for something else already.
- In my experience, BigCommerce added hours to our work week vs. Volusion due to poor inventory control features we were used to.
- Eventually, as our sales accumulate and we are billed more (tiers), we will be paying $200-$300 more each month on site and app costs vs. Volusion.
- We feel secure in our fears of company going out of business vs. Volusion.
- I just wish we did not have to see Volusion as a risk as it's a much better platform for our business.

We needed paid apps to provide our company with approximate experience we had with Volusion with zero apps and we fell well short.
We deal in firearms. I tried Shopify first back in 2016 and that was a miserable mistake, very firearm NOT friendly there. Then we went to Volusion the next month and we were quite happy there for 7-1/2 years and several million $ in sales. The issue is Volusion was losing market share like a sinking boat and we felt we needed to leave before they went out of business. May have been a mistake but I do feel secure BigCommerce will be around, just despise the platform in comparison to Volusion. We are already planning our next move if that says anything.
