Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT

Raiser's Edge is our main database for all donor info, and we use it for queries, exports, and reports. RE NXT is helpful to have on the go or to look up a quick piece of info. However, as the main data user for RE, especially one who inputs and pulls data, I am always in database mode. I know that RE NXT has great capabilities in prospecting/looking at donors, but it does have limitations on data input, and previously-created queries and exports would need to be recreated in NXT to use them, so I just stick with my well-oiled database machine.
  • Give access to donor info without having to download anything.
  • Have potential for different types of donor searches.
  • Being able to run queries/exports/reports created in RE's database mode.
  • Being able to input data with the same/similar ease as database mode.
  • Having website-based access to donor information.
  • Being able to download database view anywhere (provided that Citrix is installed).
  • Other than maybe being able to do some work from home, there has been no ROI.
We know that RE NXT has great capabilities, but unfortunately (or fortunately?), we have been so busy in bringing money in that we haven't had the time to explore those capabilities! The people who mainly use RE NXT are those who don't do data input or report pulls (they just need some quick info).

There were a few trainings that were 1:1 and were both broad and comprehensive -- it was a great opportunity to answer questions I had, as well as a good time to introduce features of NXT that I would not know about. I know that there are additional webinars that I can take to learn more skills, but either they are not pertinent to what I'm doing or they are not when I'm available.

It's helpful to have the information on the go (forget a donor's spouse's name? want to remember the amount and appeal of someone's last gift? need an address? you're covered!). However, in order to access the database view, you need to have Citrix installed, which isn't always easy, and if you're very much into inputting data and pulling data, it might be best to stick with the database view.
