Overall Satisfaction with Canto

We used Canto for our marketing department Dam system. We liked that it was cloud based. It was being used to handle our photos, PDFs, and Videos. Our goal was to move approved assets off a local file server to a solution that was easier to search, tag, and organize our files for our team and our entire organization. We had about 2000 assets in the DAM.

  • Linking files together
  • Overal UX/UI

  • Cloud Based

  • It got us started in using a DAM
  • Helped with assets search especially for photos
  • The poor performance hurt our ability to be more efficient
We wanted to try a few features before adding them to our feature set but there was no way for us to have the features turned on for 30 days. We had to pay before we tried the features out. We could only watch a demo instead of actually going hands on with the features.
Canto is not the best DAM solution on the market. It feel sort of date and is based on older ways of working with assets. The performance and UX for the cost is not in alignment. I would highly recommend picking a different product for the price point. Other Dam solutions have much better UX and features.

Do you think Canto delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Canto's feature set?

No

Did Canto live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Canto go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Canto again?

No

It was good for a basic DAM solution. It worked off a file storage UX so for many people it would be a very familiar workflow. It was easy to add tags, and other info to files. Unfortunately the performance and UX/UI was not well suited for large asset libraries which made going through a lot of assets a pain. The file sharing solutions were not well handled. Overall the system felt very dated.
