Overall Satisfaction with GiveSmart

We used GiveSmart for our annual auction in 2021. We needed to go virtual due to COVID and local restrictions for in-person gatherings. We plan to do one more year of virtual and utilize the software. It is only being used by the Development department for our silent auction. I tried to use to launch an "honor a caregiver" donation campaign. Unfortunately, there is not enough characters allowed on the checkout page for donors to type a personal message to the caregiver. I had to resort back to our donor management platform that has some additional functionality in this space. Otherwise I really like the GiveSmart platform.
  • Auction.
  • Text functionality.
  • Back end managing of the software pretty intuitive.
  • Like the on demand tutorials, especially when I get stuck on something.
  • Need ability to use more custom fields with no character limits.
  • Clearly improved internal efficiency. Now we realize how easy it is to do an online auction! We see ourselves doing a hybrid event in the future to have a further reach.
I did a demo of about 5 other platforms and asked colleagues for referrals. Honestly, it came down to the fact that GiveSmart had the flat fee. I was a little surprised other platforms were taking a percentage of auction sales and sponsorships. In my opinion that did not seem right to do. Also, GiveSmart gave us a fair price and discounted us because we use an accounting software that is under the Community Brands umbrella.
Super easy to use on the back end.
Customer service has been pretty responsive. Although I have had 3 Customer Success Managers in the last 4 months.
It has been pretty nice to be able to insert videos of our org. Having the option to add a video is huge. And also, having everything on 1 page was critical for us and made the decision to go with GiveSmart easier. Our logo had to be resized to look big enough, which took some time to figure out.
I believe GiveSmart really excels in the auction space. I have also seen examples of where GiveSmart is used for walks-runs, etc. It seems to have a lot capacity. We do use Network for Good for our donation platform, and pay a decent amount for this software. Last year, NFG did not have the auction capacity built in. Fast forward they are working behind the scenes to offer this to their customers in the near future. I do not know what it looks like yet. I was asked to be in a beta group. When I compare the two platforms, honestly speaking GiveSmart has a better external look than NFG does. This really impacts the user experience and I am really in tune with this. Last year with COVID, we had no choice to but to get another platform to run and auction. Has GiveSmart ever considered also becoming a donor management platform as well?
