Overall Satisfaction with LogicMonitor

LogicMonitor was implemented to eventually replace all of the various monitoring platforms and systems our NOC uses to monitor internally and externally for all of our clients. The NOC is moving 2K devices from these systems in to LogicMonitor. The benefits of this includes a single pane of glass to view all devices for our clients, view and analyze trends to become more proactive, share dashboards and reports with our client base. Once the migration is completed, the NOC can reduce our monitoring platforms until everything is all moved in to one place, via LogicMonitor.

LogicMonitor will address issues with faults relating to onboarding, system performance issues, increased statistics and logs to analyze, and graphical gauges/dashboards to see trends. Our client base will have access to reports and dashboards using there own portal to see live reporting of all of there devices at any giving time.
  • Automated onboarding.
  • Excellent support staff.
  • Endless monitoring capabilities and features.
  • Detailed and customized reporting and dashboards.
  • Easy scaling options.
  • User interface.
  • Alerts page.
  • Alert descriptions, definitions, etc.
  • LM Visuals i.e. graphs, dashboards, reporting has had a major impact on clients renewing.
  • Single pane of glass for monitoring allows us to remove older vulnerable monitoring solutions and cut costs.
  • Cloud based monitoring that is cheaper to scale then relying on additional addons offered by cloud vendors.
The other platforms used before migrating to LogicMonitor all have limitations or performance related issues. ConnectWise Automate is a very buggy, unstable platform that is very manual to maintain. The system requires an "Agent" installed on every machine in order for Automate to monitor it. If someone clones a machine with the agent installed, it creates a huge mess within the database and platform which causes various monitoring issues. Moving away from this allows us to not have to rely on these agents, rely on having 6 servers dedicated to the monitoring platform, and having monitoring outages 2-3 times a year that takes 3-5 days to fix and restore.

LogicMonitor is cloud based, the systems with collectors installed have better performance compared to systems with "agents" installed. LM collects more data and provides more metrics to monitor devices on allowing us to go from a NOC who reacts to a NOC who is proactive.
The support aspects of LogicMonitor has been outstanding. Whenever I can't figure something out or run in to a new issue, I can quickly check to see if any documentation is readily available to help me. If there is none, I can quickly perform a chat session with a support engineer who will take a look and guide me through the problem I'm experiencing. I've never had a question go unanswered for more then 10 minutes and if there is an issue with the chat or the session gets terminated, the support engineer will follow up with me via email to ensure my problem is resolved before they close out the ticket.
The NOC monitors a combination of public and private cloud and on-prem infrastructure. We support and manage over 2K devices from networking gear, servers, environmental units, application and websites, cloud portals etc. All of these devices and resources support a 200+ client base that are located in various geographical locations.

The NOC monitors for simple issues such as up/down, connectivity, reboots, disk space utilization, packet loss, etc. to even more advanced monitoring such as application issues, site connectivity, licenses expiring, hardware issues, container issues, portal issues, etc.
LogicMonitor deployment and onboarding has been great. We worked with the professional services team to develop a script which created all of the custom groups required based off of our on-prem monitoring solution. We then worked with them to develop an onboarding script to onboard devices with unique properties and requirements from our existing solution.

Now when we had a resource to LogicMonitor, we have to define only a few key properties and LogicMonitor handles the rest of the deployment. We then check back to see if there are any issues before enabling alerting.
LogicMonitor has allowed us to incorporate in house solutions all in to one single platform and decommission older more vulnerable in house systems. We have taking out the responsibility and costs relating to maintaining the on-prem solutions. LogicMonitor feature set including graphs, dashboards, reports, etc. allows for more troubleshooting and analysis to be done via the platform rather then having to login to the specific resources to obtain this information before.

LogicMonitor alerting has been more reliable then our on-prem tools which makes troubleshooting and reduced MTTR.
LogicMonitor is well suited for monitoring hybrid environment including network monitoring, cloud portals, application and site monitoring, on-prem infrastructure monitoring, etc. Setting up onboarding scripts that will define properties, and datasources automatically when new devices are added. LogicMonitor makes fine tuning of resources and alerting thresholds easily following a top down approach. LogicMonitor has a great support staff, lots of documentation and a skills training site to learn and develop. I've yet to run in to a situation where LogicMonitor could not be used to monitor a need that we our one of our clients required.

The one area where LM is not suited is managing patching of network gear or servers. I would recommend a different platform if this is a requirement.
