Overall Satisfaction with Lucidchart

As mentioned prior, the initiation of timelines is not intuitive. However, once you get a timeline on your canvas, it then becomes very easy to manipulate and use. I would like to see some additional flexibility with the milestones, as those come in one form, and the user must redesign if a new look or use case is desired.
Our organization has licenses for those departments that deal with process development and systemic communication. Lucidchart provides an excellent tool to communicate in a visual manner and reach all audiences. We use it internally and externally with partners, mainly for the purposes of timelines, workflows, and when designing new processes or products.

Pros

  • A visual of a timeline that allows as much or as little detail as desired.
  • Exceptional at workflow displays that allow the appropriate level of detail to be connected with each step in the process.
  • When a shift in the organizational structure occurs, departments merge, and we use Lucidshart to display the 'swim lanes' for entire departments as well as individual roles.

Cons

  • The timeline templates are very sparse, and I've had to create templates for myself. They are too restrictive; for example, the concept of the milestone tool is great, but it provides no opportunity for modification.
  • Some aspects of the program are not intuitive. When I first started to use the timelines, I had to go onto Youtube to watch a video to demonstrate how to get the 'timeline' drawn, but I could then take it from there.
  • Lucidchart is a timesaver. I can communicate much faster and more efficiently than with other modes of display. There are less questions when information is presented using this tool, thus we save time meeting and can instead spend more time on development.
  • We use many workflow designs that need to be referenced and iterated on. Our productivity is higher because our workflow designs are clear, concise, and minimize mistakes due to misinterpretation.
I personally only use Lucidchart with Microsoft and Google. Our other teams use it with several other applications in their daily work.
This was difficult to rate because when I wanted to learn how to do something on Lucidchart, I just google it, and a video comes up. Sometimes it is within the Lucidchart environment, in others, it is external. I have never been in a situation where I could not get information or solve my problem in some manner.

Yes

The strength of Lucidchart is the workflow charts and mind-mapping ability. The tools are easy to use, and when a mistake is made, it is very easy to undo. There is a great deal of flexibility in how it displays your work, so we've found that it meets the needs of most users. On my last project, I was using a timeline and Ghant chart combination, and would it would have been great to direct link the milestones in the timeline to items within the chart. I have not yet uncovered a way to closely link items.
