Overall Satisfaction with Mailchimp
We used Mailchimp for two purposes. Firstly, we used it to open a store selling retail logo goods. Secondly, we used it in a newsletter function to contact a set of subscribers and update them on current events. In both cases, we used it to direct our audience to websites and to potentially deal with any questions or concerns.
- Simple mailing list
- Incorporation of graphics and images
- Previews and testing
- Complex logic
- We couldn’t have accomplished our goals as easily and quickly without Mailchimp.
- Our cost went from $197 per mailing to around $25.
- We received excellent list management reporting.
The Amazon product was too complex. We had simple needs and wanted a simple solution. The Amazon product might be far superior but that does not matter if one has simple requirements. With Mailchimp, we were able to do 100% of what we needed to do. We did it quickly and simply and got the job done with good results.
We have not used the integrated marketing functionality. We used mailings, reporting, statistics, list information, and that was it. The more advanced integrated marketing sounded interesting, but we didn't really require it. Additionally, we only had one or two links per email. Online marketing is interesting, but our needs were simple.
Our major success was a very good online store launch. We had [very good click-through rates] and did what we wanted to do. The ‘knock on’ value was the ability to clean up an old list and make it more useful for the future. The lesson we learned is that it is not an image manager. Images and graphics are best when they are brought in ready to show.
