Overall Satisfaction with Marketo

Marketing had no marketing automation in late 2013. Already using Salesforce.com CRM, it was decided a solution was needed that would integrate with the CRM and also to help with the following:
  • Landing Page Creation & Tracking
  • Form Creation & Tracking
  • Email Service Provider
  • List Management
  • Reporting
Marketo was heavily used by our marketing department, with sales taking advantage of Lead Scoring when they needed to prioritize leads.

Pros

  • Reporting on Form Conversions.
  • Email Engagement tracking

Cons

  • Email scheduling/sending can only be done on quarter hour increments. It would be nice if this could be done with more flexibility.
  • Customer support. We felt a bit ignored by customer support and it would be appreciated if the customer could feel more important.
  • Product Launches
  • Upsell
  • Cross-Sell
  • Prospecting / New Business
Marketo is not a perfect tool, but I have yet to find a perfect software solution for anything. Of all marketing automation software I have used, it actually had what I felt was the best integration with Salesforce (including the marketing automation tools owned by Salesforce). If you're using Salesforce, it is pretty easy to move your prospects through stages of a campaign.

Using Marketo

3 - Marketo is used by our VP of Marketing as a light user for reporting. Our graphic designer uses it to build landing pages and modify email templates. I am the heaviest user of Marketo, drafting emails, modifying forms and doing data maintenance work.
We don't have any in house support. If we have a problem, we go to the Marketo community.

  • Increased efficiency for webinars. We integrated GoToWebinar.

    I'm really sorry to hear that our product offerings fell short of your expectations. I've noted all of your feedback and have relayed it to the rest of the product team. Customer feedback is crucial in helping us take our products to the next level. I am personally working on several projects to address responsive design and reporting. In the coming months, we should reach a point where we have large collections of fully-responsive Email and Landing Page templates for use by our customers. We also have a large project underway to overhaul our entire Email Editor and Analytics space. These changes will start to roll out in the middle of 2016. Regarding your scheduling comments, we'll also be making many changes to our campaign infrastructure to allow for more advanced scheduling options (and much better performance). That said, I wish our enablement process could have helped you more because it's definitely possible to send out an email "right now" instead of waiting 15 minutes. I will also take down this note and relay it to our on-boarding team. I'm hoping that when you're ready to re-assess marketing platforms in the future, you'll give us another shot. We have tons of great projects in-flight and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Thanks again for your feedback.
