Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Project
Microsoft Project is typically only used by those who are project managers. It is not as intuitive as some other tools out there, but once you get used to using it I think it is a very helpful tool. Across the organization we have a number of different PMO’s and I’m not sure they all use Project. Some use Excel, Confluence, Trello, Jira, etc. We use Project to track all of the tasks that need to occur by who, what sequence they need to occur in, progress, complete, and timelines.
Pros
- Timelines.
- Calculations.
Cons
- Easier to learn all of the capabilities it can do.
- % compete does not shade in Gantt unless you manually add that line style.
- Overall it’s positive once someone knows how to use it. It is not expensive but is cumbersome to learn.
