Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We use it as a teaching tool. Students can use the software to find the information we placed as part of the course and to design their own work. The work they design is more visual than normal assessments, as we find it important for them to increase their explanatory skills. This works well with Miro. It is an attractive tool that you can easily customize to your own needs.
  • Customize templates to your own needs
  • Allow for collaboration
  • Provide tool to create posters
  • provide interactive working environment that grows with the course
  • the items in boards cannot be locked thus sometimes creating a mess
  • automatic saving is not very often when you want to track student work
  • you often move stuff instead of moving the board
  • more creative teaching opportunities
  • easy to use
  • students found it refreshing
It is necessary to sit down with the staff and students at the beginning of the course and go through the functionalities in detail. We also had a workshop to ensure everyone could use it. Starting on time with using and understanding Miro is therefore important. Otherwise, the course needs to be suited to Miro learning, so it requires elements of visualization.
It is difficult to first work with Miro so using it on single occasions requires a bit of work in understanding Miro.
Yes, because it is a tool that allows collaboration it helps bring people together and work in the same digital space. But it lacks a chat and call function so communication still requires additional software. In particular, you cannot present your work through Miro, you'd need to open up Teams/Zoom and share screen.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

In the case of group work in hybrid learning environments. Miro is an excellent tool to use when students have to work in groups partially physically and partially from home. Furthermore, Miro grows with the course as extra material is added by lecturers or students. Thus it is a good tool to use when you want to have a basic course design that is flexible depending on class discussion topics.
