Overall Satisfaction with New Relic
The Tech department uses new relics in general, and much more on customer-facing systems, since their load changes drastically.
- Gather data: the integrations and data collection helped us setup.
- Organise data: the way we can investigate issues and usage profiles is really useful and accessible.
- The interface sometimes fails, giving no values for a certain range. This sometimes happens, which maims our confidence a little bit, but it seems to be an all-or-nothing issue (meaning when the data is there, it is always correct).
- Improved visibility.
- Faster recovery from issues.
- Better resource planning.
- Improved stability through easy detection and investigation of anomalies.
New Relic allows us to react to issues, and seamlessly monitor a large number of applications in one place, with good dashboards. It also allows us to investigate issues, providing very digestible instrumentation.
New Relic definitely helped. It allows me to understand usage to a large degree, making planning easier and more precise.
Yes, through easy and simple monitoring and instrumentation.
The overlap is not large, but the one advantage of the speed curve is retention: data is available permanently, which allows you to investigate the hypothesis with data collected before formulating the hypothesis. This has proven very effective for us.
