Overall Satisfaction with The Okta Identity Cloud
We use Okta as the Single Sign On suite at our company. It is extremely powerful and useful to create a dashboard with all the cloud based apps needed for your job. Instead of doing individual provisioning of apps per user, you can add the app to their dashboard and have their logon information embedded. Accessing their cloud apps requires nothing more than clicking on a software button on the dashboard.
- Ease of use. For the tech, once the cloud apps are defined and added to Okta, on boarded employees are easily assigned these apps with nothing more than a single mouse click (and typing in their email address.) The end user gets a customized dashboard with all their needed cloud apps.
- Integration with Active Directory - after a new employee is entered into the AD, Okta can import that AD info into the system, so account creation, group memberships, email address in a manner of seconds. From there, the tech can then assign the cloud apps based on their job. Within a matter of minutes, the newly on boarded user is ready to work.
- Ease of installation: just install the client component to a server and add your site to Okta, and you are ready to go. The next step is to have the user's set their passwords. That's it.
- Deleting off boarded users. At the moment, Okta only allows you to deactivate the Okta account, but you can't delete it. Seems like it shouldn't be too hard to add this feature.
- Editing AD info: the sync with the AD profile properties is only editable in the AD itself. I understand that Okta pulls the proper name, phone number, email address, etc. of the user into Okta, but it doesn't always work. Not a deal breaker, but a solution should be in place - otherwise that section is useless.
- The most positive impact is the speed of customization. When a new project gains traction, gathering the necessary resources in a timely manner is essential in getting all the team members up to speed. Chasing down website links, logon IDs, and passwords ... as well as gathering all the correct group memberships ... can all be eliminated by Okta with several mouse clicks.
