Overall Satisfaction with Procore

My company works on solar construction projects. They may be on a rooftop, ground-mounted in a farm field, or as a canopy above a parking garage or parking lot. We use this as a turnkey solution for scheduling, email storage, document storage, drawings, and overall company management. The biggest problems we had were finding a central location for all of our documents for everyone to review. We also had issues with document versions between multiple companies and vendors. Emailing was killing us with vendors using older versions and not getting our comments or using old data.
  • Drawings tool is built very well to capture redlines, ensure you are working on the most recent version, and link task items to specific locations on the drawing.
  • Forms tool is very helpful for us to build a fillable form template and then have our field employees or office team go in and recreate a document such as a change order or contract very quickly.
  • When creating markups on the drawings, you have to publish each markup for any other user to see it. This can be a pain if you make your redlines and forget to publish a cloud or text comment and no one ever sees it. The only way for you to know it's not published is to check every comment on every drawing page until you find that you missed publishing one.
  • Project limits are a pain point as you are only allotted so many projects per your company's income, which is how they base your custom quote. We are limited to 30 so we find we have to deactivate some projects and go through some hoops to still use them.
  • It has positively affected us by reducing the mistakes in communication via drawings and redlines with our engineers.
  • It has positively helped us have our documents accessible to all within the company and allows us to recall them easily.
We have not integrated anything with Procore at this time. We plan to look into using DocuSign in the near future.
This has greatly improved our process. We had to hound our supers to get them to always fill out our old Excel form and, a lot of the time, they would do them all at the end of the week or sometimes forget, and we wouldn't catch it until later. This provides a standardized, professional-looking document from which it is easy to get the data we need as well as provide something to the owner that requests it.
Procore is well suited for a company that is in construction or wants to manage drawings, schedules, and documents. You have unlimited storage. The schedule reflects back percentage of completion so you can see what is lagging and tie the delays to tasks. The drawings are the main tool. Procore is clearly built to be drawing-centered, and it handles drawings very well.
