Overall Satisfaction with QuickBase

We are using Quickbase to launch a new division. We are highly focused on the project management and client facing tools. We have done exhaustive research on Project Management tools that support both internal and external users and did not find what we needed. We concluded that we needed full customizability of logic using a tool that already had a solid foundation so we were not starting from scratch. As part of customization, we needed an option to design a white labeled front end for our external users.

We found Quickbase has the above and comes with off the shelf free "Apps" that are essentially pre-configured data tables, forms and business logic. We are using "Team Complete Project Manager" which provides that foundation we needed.
  • Managing forms, data and basic logic are exceptional. If you understand the basics of databases and forms, you can accomplish alot without a programmer
  • Compared to similar solutions like Salesforce, Quickbase's ability to manage data is much more simplified and straightforward.
  • The technical support and community are very active and filled with admins like us.
  • The overall performance and speed is very good.
  • There are some restrictions in fully white labeling Quickbase, this is something that Salesforce.com is much stronger at.
  • The 3rd party solutions/integration provider community is also smaller than Salesforce.com, so your world of technology integration options are somewhat limited.
  • The general user interface is antiquated. In their defense, it works a whole lot better than it looks, and you can pay someone to customize how it looks.
  • We will update this section in the future
As a business and project management tool. The ability to manage data, template workflows, automate tasking, have client facing tools, and have customizable interfaces makes Quickbase very powerful. You can do as little or a lot as you want, but you should have a multiphase plan if you will be going down the route of adding complex data and logic to your implementation.
As a CRM tool, this is not its strong point as it doesn't have robust marketing automation tools integration.
If you need a way to build a complex data solution, and you don't have a large technology infrastructure budget, Quickbase could be great. If you are looking for a super integrated/high tech solution this tool may be limiting since the integration community is still small but growing.
