Overall Satisfaction with Renaissance Accelerated Reader
I use Renaissance daily! It helps me keep up with goals and student achievements! I use logging forms from the website for student folders. Parents enjoy getting updated information on their child's status in our classroom on AR. Students are rewarded every Friday depending on their AR status. Renaissance is used across the district. I have worked at three different districts and 2/3 utilizes Renaissance Accelerated Reader.
- Accelerated Reader helps educators by having a variety of reports available.
- Accelerated Reader helps students set goals, and it provides feedback on their status.
- Accelerated Reader has many forms available for classroom monitoring, small groups, and individual planning for each student.
- Notifications via email.
- Alert status.
- Better quality rewards.
- More challenges for points.
- Points should not get taken away.
- The positive impact is that educators are showing interest in learning more about RAR.
- The negative impact would be that there's not enough time to utilize one program with time always being an issue.
- Access at home is an issue...host address is hard to find.
They are very close in the diagnosis of groups or levels. My interests are in where our students were when we first meet. I build on their individual levels. Monitoring their reading per minute is helpful. There are so many ways I could decide on small grouping but RAR and iReady make it easy with an initial status result.
