Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct
We currently use Sage Intacct as our entire accounting system. Intacct really helps to automate the accounting process by allowing users to push through both simple and complex journal entries in a way that makes sense, and in a way that can later be conveyed visually via reports/graphs. There is a logical flow, from when entries are made, to how they feed into some of the other modules. For example, posting a simple prepaid entry will have it flow into Intacct's prepaid module where it will automatically create amortization schedules for you, to which you can tweak/post the amortization to your liking.
- Automate the accounting function.
- Allows you to visualize your data/inputs easily through the Reports feature.
- Has a very easy-to-follow interface.
- I find that there are usually some delays from some modules to others (e.g. posting a prepaid through AP Bills will take about 5 minutes before you see it in the Prepaids module. The same goes for Fixed Assets.
- Having a more simple report-writer function. The current one is a bit complex for new users to create their own custom reports.
- Sage has definitely had a positive impact on our business objectives. I particularly like the consolidation function of it. If you have multiple companies, even if multi-currency, Intacct does a great job consolidating this for you on a monthly, quarterly, or YTD basis.
- One negative impact of Sage Intacct is that a lot of time is spent trying to figure out how to customize reports and tweak them to our needs as the Report Writer function is not as intuitive as I'd like it to be.
Our organization has definitely benefitted from the automation of Sage Intacct's core processes. For example, when using the AP module, you can post a simple AP bill to Prepaids. This will then take that journal entry and put it into Intacct's Prepaids module whereby you can take a look at Intacct's pre-generated amortization schedule, and tweak it to your liking. From here, you can also post your monthly prepaid amortization. This is just one example, but overall the automation function of Intacct is great.
The availability of global consolidations has helped our organization quite a bit. If you have a lot of entities, especially if they are multi-currency, you will usually have a hard time consolidating this for the purpose of preparing financial reports as you will need to translate the non-local currency entities into local currency, and then organize them all the same way by GL. Intacct handles this all for you and allows you to choose how you wish to consolidate (e.g. quarterly, annually, etc.)
