Overall Satisfaction with SAP Crystal

Crystal Reports (CR) is used with two of the software products we use. One is a construction management software and the other is accounting. We use CR to customize certain reports and to create forms within these products.
  • Crystal Reports pulls from existing data sets to minimize the redundancy of data entry.
  • With Crystal Reports we can customize forms and create templates to be used over again across different departments.
  • Creating custom reports helps us with analyzing expenses and work flows as well as the budget expenditures.
  • Crystal Reports is a powerful tool, therefore requires advance skills of how to use the software properly.
  • With its versatility, it is difficult to learn how to use as it applies specifically to our products. For example, we use CR on 2 different products (accounting and construction management). Training for report writing in the product does not transfer over to use within the other.
SAP crystal is embedded with our software but it definitely provides a better report function they our straight canned reports.
We have no choice in using the product because it is part of the software we use.

Using SAP Crystal

3 - Contracts uses SAP Crystal for creating legal documents for sub contractors contracts and our job contracts. Project managers use crystal reports for creating PO and RFI as well as change orders and letters for collaborating with owners and subcontractors. Meetings notes are kept as well as information to architects and other contractors.
1 - We have a team of 2 in the Information Technology Department but with our support contract we can get assistance with customizing reports when we get either to busy to figure out how on our own or call for assistance from our software support contract. Once however the report is configured there is not much on going support needed.
  • Crystal reports can be used as a template across multiple softwares due to its versatility.
  • Legal Documents, Our contracts are created with crystal reports since we have multiple contracts on the same job it is simplified to issue them out once.
  • Purchase orders, creating multiple Purchase orders on our many jobs
  • Request for Information, during our bidding process there are many RFI created.
  • Creating reports that are then email weekly to end users using our accounting software notifications.
