Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop SOS

We use Splashtop SOS to provide attended, and unattended support to our client base, which consists of small to medium size businesses. We previously used an RMM solution with another vendor, but Splashtop SOS uses clear, and fixed pricing that allows us not only to pass on savings to our clients but also to predict our costs of doing support. Our previous vendor had lots of incident-based pricing that (although being published) was difficult to keep track of.

Splashtop SOS gives us what we need, no more no less.
  • Simple pricing, easy to understand, and predict.
  • A clear web driven install process for our clients, even the timid technophobes.
  • An easy to use desktop or web interface for our end. Simple and clear. Well done.
  • In Splashtop SOS you can deploy a [somewhat] managed antivirus, Bitfender. One area that could be better managed is the addition of exclusions for the AV scanner. Currently (as of June 2021) I cannot add my own exclusions, but rather I need to email Splashtop support and they must add them on a per machine basis.
  • Splashtop SOS's AV management should also include the ability to apply settings to a group of client machines at the same time.
  • The desktop UI is simple and easy to use, but two things could be added easily and would improve things a lot: The status of a client machine is show as live or not, and that can be refreshed, manually. An automatic update cycle would be good. Further, if the last moment I client machine was live could be displayed, that would be helpful.
  • I have experienced a few instances of receiving a blank or black screen when connecting to a client. This can be resolved by choosing different display interface options, or adding an additional drive. There are also some instances where connecting to a Splashtop client actually closes, or minimizes certain graphics-intensive apps. I have not gotten to the bottom of this issue as yet.
  • Low cost, simplicity for end user install, and clear, easy UI are the features that stand out for me.
  • Fixed and low costs are the main benefit I see in Splashtop SOS.
  • N-able MSP Manager (formerly Solarwinds MSP Manager) and TeamViewer
Splashtop SOS is similar [for remote control and support] to N-able RMM, and TeamViewer. The selection of Splashtop SOS is primarily for cost control.
