Use Cases and Deployment Scope

TeamViewer provides quick and easy remote access to our company's computers. It provides an easy way to offer remote support for end users or giving an external partner temporally access to a system. It is a well known tool in the IT world, so the chances that an external partner knows about it or has it already in use are high.

Pros and Cons

Quick and easy access to remote clients or servers
Prompt for user's consent or direct access
Well known tool in the IT world

The once very simple and straight forward UI is getting more and more cluttered
Licensing not very transparent - perpetual does not mean it will always work
Access is per default not restricted to internal IT, a user could let anyone access his company pc

Enables our IT help desk to operate world wide

Remote Support is made easy.
Temporal access is possible thanks to automatically changing passwords.
Everyone in IT knows it or heard about it.

In the end it is just one tool of many. It's not particularly better, just very common and kind of a standard.

When installing some software on a remote computer classic remote desktop is still the better solution.
