If you have the time to invest in truly learning how to administer UKG, you can do almost anything you can dream of.
Overall Satisfaction with UKG Pro (formerly Ultimate Software UltiPro)
We use UKG to manage our employees' personnel files, payroll, benefits, learning, onboarding, compensation, and much more. When the pandemic began, we were able to successfully transition our office staff to remote work with the aid of tools like the mobile time clock and community broadcast.
Pros
- Getting connected with quality customer service for practically any issue is incredibly easy.
- The platform seems like it can do everything but make you breakfast in the morning.
- BI gives you access to every single piece of data for your company.
Cons
- Timekeeping modules do not seem to be built with payroll managers in mind.
- A majority of my employees (current and at past companies) experience challenges logging in to the mobile app.
- BI sample reports are limited and service requests to build reports are prohibitively expensive. It would help if it was made more accessible to those who have limited experience with BI.
- Digitized personnel files.
- One platform for all HR processes.
- Easy access to all data.
After a long selection process, we went with UKG - which had the highest launch price tag of all the vendors we reviewed - because of its amazing capacity for configurability. We were also drawn to the culture within UKG. It made the most sense to us that a company with a culture we strive for will be able to meet all of our needs from a cultural perspective because they have built and rely on the same product.
We implemented UKG over the course of 2 months after crashing out of a PEO. It was one of the most challenging experiences I have had in my career. But we were able to successfully go live AND transition to remote work with the support of UKG in the span of 5 months.

Yes - It works very well! As long as you can successfully log in. I have worked with two companies that have used UKG(UltiPro), and both experienced issues with employees struggling to log in without getting locked out.
In our instance, we have set our security to the lowest threshold possible to try to avoid employees getting locked out, but we still have an alarmingly high frequency of employees needing their passwords reset or accounts unlocked on a weekly basis.
I believe the issue is mainly user error - but if so many users are making these errors, there must be a solution in the app itself.
Logging in aside, the mobile timeclock was one of the things that has allowed us to transition to remote work so easily. Our employees love the self service options. And if open enrollment or life events is ever added to the mobile app, I promise I will stop complaining about Workforce Management.
