Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365

We needed a solution to back up the information stored in our Microsoft 365 tenant. Microsoft isn't responsible for the long-term recovery of our data, so we needed a solution that could reach into the MS solution and finely capture the data for safe-keeping and possible later retrieval. The solution also needed to be cost-efficient and relatively easy to use.

  • We restore many things we currently for which we had no solution previously.
While MS 365 has some of its own ediscovery options, it does not guarantee the data is backed-up and accessible to meet our long-term compliance requirements. We needed a solution that could make sure that the data would be safe and retrievable, as Microsoft does not keep or backup our data according to our terms but rather their own.
Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 is relatively easy to connect and start backing up user data. Once you have the backups, you can start learning or discovering how you can restore elements as needed on your own time without much complication. Having a tool to backup and restore the multi-faceted Teams environment is an invaluable resource.
For the times where we have needed to restore a user's data or even just do an ordinary e-discovery, it has been relatively easy and reliable using the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 solution to make this occur without too many man hours to accomplish. We have been able to recover items with more granularity than many of our users can describe the items they want restored.
For the purposes of legal compliance, we have been able to give copies of required information without much hassle in getting it all together with just the needed items. Having the option to restore to on-premises solutions and well as cloud is a great option as run a hybrid environment and need the flexibility of a single paid for solution.
The relatively easy user interface is a great tool in checking the backups and running the restores. We needed an interface that for the most part made sense and could be productive even as we learned the finer points. The other feature we think is a favorite is the ability to restore the backed up data in different forms (zip,pst...etc.).
We have found Veeam to mostly be accessible for questions and difficulties. Once we have reached the appropriate knowledgeable engineer we have resolved all the issues we previously ran into. The documentation online is very helpful and the user community can be very helpful in resolving other issues we have explored.

Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 seems to work well for companies of all sizes. Hybrid and cloud deployments can both be addressed with one solution for Exchange and SharePoint implementations. eDiscovery is built-in as well for cases where this is needed or mandated, saving countless hours. Ideally, this solution is a must-have for your MS 365 data, assuming it has backup value.
