Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard AuthPoint
Our cyber liability insurance has started requiring MFA for just about everything.
We use WatchGuard AuthPoint for MFA for logging into local Windows desktops and laptops.
We use WatchGuard AuthPoint for MFA for logging into local Windows desktops and laptops.
- Reliable authentication process between the WatchGuard Cloud and end devices
- Integration to local Active Directory is superb
- WatchGuard Cloud interface is mostly intuitive
- Agent software installation is very straightforward and works the first time
- More flexibility in designating which local AD users participate in MFA or not
- The ability to designate which users have a license and which ones don't
- Easier admin bypass for local desktop login
- Did not measure ROI
- Azure Multi-Factor Authentication (Discontinued) and ManageEngine ADAudit Plus
Azure is much more complicated to setup. ManageEngine is an ok solution for smaller, single location networks.
Cloud deployment is definitely a good thing. The fewer the servers to manage the better. The agents communicate well, no firewall adjustments need either.
Using the mobile app is a great way to do the MFA process. Everyone has a cell phone (Apple or Android) so we haven't yet needed to deploy hardware keys. You can also put other MFA codes into the WatchGuard AuthPoint mobile app to have all your codes in one place.
SSO certainly makes it easier to keep Office 365 mailbox usernames and passwords in sync to the local network.. and to other services that support the protocol. Employees love it as it not only syncs their accounts and passwords, but in many cases will just log them in, even to third party websites (like their vendors, etc).
