Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Webroot Endpoint Protection is deployed on every computer we have in circulation. Our organization is not full of 'tech savvy' individuals, and sometimes things can happen, but Webroot is there to help prevent those issues, or clean up quickly after mistakes are made. For us it is used as a basic protection system.

Pros and Cons

Runs silently in the background
Installs/updates silently
Provides detailed information about any threats found

It is a little resource intensive, and as a non profit, our computer hardware is not top of the line, so it can cause some slowdown during day to day usage
The backend management UI could use some work.

Return on Investment

Less manual interventions.
Included in our RMM Software Suite, so the cost is factored into that.
Allows IT to have more peace of mind and less stress over the 'random surfing' of users.

Implementation Rating

With us, it was easy to implement as it was a part of our RMM software suite. Once the RMM software was installed, it became very easy to push Webroot to all of those machines at once. It also makes it easy to keep it updated, and to remove/add new systems to the service.

Alternatives Considered

Symantec Endpoint Security and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint

Less system intensive than Symantec, with a much better management setup on the backend. More robust than Microsoft Defender, though a little heavier on the resources required, but the feature comparison is night and day between the two. Defender does nicely integrate with the host OS considering they're the same company, but Webroot has very little issues in that regard.

Likelihood to Recommend

Webroot is the best option I have seen for the type of environment we have. The other options are either too expensive, too resource intensive, don't have enough features or are wayyyy too expensive. Webroot fits nicely in the middle of all of those requirements and has remained stable for years.

Webroot does exactly what it says it will without costing a ton of money or system resources
