If you are a growing company looking to align everyone's goals this is a great software. I also recommend it to anyone who does weekly 1:1s so nothing is forgotten or slips through the cracks. It makes it easier to hold employees accountable for certain tasks and projects and to get status updates. It is also a great tool for pulse-checks.

The great thing about Paycor is that they offer an all in one solution to timekeeping, applicant tracking, payroll, HRIS and reporting. This is very convenient as opposed to having separate software installations for each aspect of the human resources function

  • Weekly goals and accomplishments: This is the core of what we use 15Five for. Any employee with varied daily job responsibilities fills out a 15Five report that mentions their accomplishments for the week that went by and their goals for the upcoming week. Wash, rinse and repeat.
  • Customizability: 15Five provides a lot of options to customize the questions that employees need to answer on their weekly reports.
  • Tagging: You can tag your colleagues in your report, so it's a great way to get somebody's attention within the company.
  • Visibility: Individual 15Five reports are visible to everybody up the chain, so it's a great tool for business leaders to get a pulse of the organization.

  • Client support - the one-person contact system is great. Of course, if your 'person' isn't available, you can get help from someone else. But that has rarely been an issue. I like knowing that I don't have to repeat the problem over and over and over again to different people.
  • The HR module and Payroll modules have almost everything built in that I need. There is also the option to insert your own fields, so I have used that in several ways. One example: I created a field for I9 destruction date so that I can keep up with the retention dates of I9s.
  • Coffee Break Webinars! These have been invaluable to me since I am in a small company and do not have another level above me to turn to for guidance. I select the webinars that I think will provide needed info, and that 30 minutes and a cup of coffee has taught me a lot.
  • The ACA compliance and reporting is another area that I am so glad they have. I do not know that I could have gotten through the first year of ACA reporting if it had not been for my support person. He talked me through the process and calmed me down when I felt panicky.
  • The HR support add-on. Not having an employment lawyer or even a level above me to turn to for guidance, being able to ask questions of certified HR specialists and know that what they are telling me is the legal and/or right way to handle an issue has relieved me of worrying about whether or not I was doing things correctly. Sometimes I was not, but then they told me what I should do and I learned from that.

  • While it is possible to generate custom reports based on historical data, the interface is not very robust. For instance, you cannot filter your reports based on, say, departments.

  • The interface between Payroll and HR still has room for improvement, there are many cases where this interface only goes one way, and there should never be a need to enter the same data in two places.
  • The local tax functionality, while extensive, is cumbersome to use and requires far too many steps.
  • Imports from outside of Paycor are inconsistent - some things are easily imported and others are awkward. The newly added onboarding module only connects to Payroll and not to HR, which requires extensive duplicate entry. The newly added performance review module is similarly lacking in features.
  • The lack of support for foreign addresses is a source of ongoing frustration for us.

This is probably by far the biggest advantage that Paycor has. I reviewed a handful of companies that were a couple of hundred dollars cheaper each year, however I wasn't as convinced that they would be as easy to use as Paycor's system. This uncertainty made Paycor an easy choice for us.

Make sure Paycor realizes the importance of having your GL set up and to you in a timely fashion. Ours was so delayed, I had to approach our salesperson from Paycor and get him to push the issue up several management levels.

The great advantage of Quick Base is that you can pretty much mimic the functionality of an app like 15Five on it. That, however, is easier said than done because it is difficult to find talented Quick Base developers and the cost model of Quick Base can make it prohibitively expensive for most mid-sized organizations.

We used Ceridian's Source Assist and later the HR/Payroll Latitude web Products for over ten years. Customer support at Ceridian was a big reason we chose to leave, and Paycor's dedication to client satisfaction has not disappointed us. The lack of flexibility in Ceridian's platform always frustrated us and Paycor makes it easy to customize the product to meet our needs, instead of having to modify our requirements to fit the product's abilities. At Ceridian it seemed that changes, when made, rarely made things easier for us. We have been pleased to find that Paycor listens to client concerns and makes changes that make life easier.

  • 15Five is one of my favorite tools. It has allowed us to keep track of the general morale of the business and to address small issues before they became large issues
  • It has also allowed us to streamline our review process, making everybody's life easier!

  • Positive impact on the ACA reporting requirement expenses. We were able to implement and have the forms delivered without a huge revision to our HR budget. That is a big benefit for us!
