Adobe Acrobat DC

What I liked the most was how nice the PDFs look and all the options Adobe gives you. Capturing parts of the PDF is very useful for making reports. The conception of the image as a vector object is a right choice, since you can zoom without losing quality.Adobe Acrobat products need a simplification, Acrobat comes with Acrobat Reader, but you have to pay monthly. DC comes without Scan, but the MAX comes with the Scan, but without the cloud, and the cloud comes without the MAX but with the Adobe Acrobat DC, it is a tremendous mess to know what tools you need apart from the Adobe Acrobat DC to have everything centralized in the same suite. That and the price you have per month if you only select Acrobat DC

Nitro Productivity Suite

Well suited for anyone and any company, honestly. It's just one of the tools everyone should have. It would be less appropriate I guess for teams that don't use signing features or who already rely on a cloud software with the same functionality.

Pros

  • I like the fill and sign feature.
  • Synching feature is very nice.
  • Simplicity for basic tasks with a PDF, although then the thing gets a bit complicated. It has quite a lot of options

  • Able to modify PDF files easily without having to stick a lot of money out.
  • Customer service has been good when we needed them.
  • Software was easy to use and I know this because I don't get many calls on it from a support standpoint.

Cons

  • The colour scheme for GUI could do with being darker.
  • For those used to the workflow of Acrobat 11, it is significantly different and takes quite a while to figure out.
  • Whilst creating a pdf from the MS Office or Adobe CC suites is very simple - converting a pdf into those formats has a lot of room for improvement.

  • The version we have which is a little older had features in odd places such as adding pages to a PDF was kind of buried.
  • Product seems to run a little slow in a Citrix environment. I believe it would run better on a dedicated PC.
  • I'd like for them to try and mimic Adobe more as that seems to be laid out a little better for end user features.

Usability

Adobe Acrobat DC8.0

Overall, Adobe Acrobat DC provides an easy user interface. The program can take some time to get used to, just like most programming you use, but once the software is understood it is very easy for users to use. Compared to many programs this is very easy for people to use.

Performance

Adobe Acrobat DC8.0

Overall, Adobe Acrobat DC performs at an acceptable rate. The software takes some time to load, but nothing that is unreasonable when launching a document. The program responds at a reasonable speed and performs well when operating tasks. It takes time for it to evaluate a document when you request to edit the document, but that is understandable considering it is identifying words and such in the document.

Alternatives Considered

We have used Acrobat DC as part of our Adobe CC subscription since 2014 and as it has always sat well with our other software purchases and performed all the tasks required of it, we've never had a reason to look elsewhere. It may be that if our current trial of the fill and sign functionality doesn't produce the results we want then we'll look at other options then, but for now we'll definitely be sticking with Acrobat DC.

We selected Nitro PDF because the features that the organization needed were comparable and the annual cost for the on-premises version of the application was considerably less expensive at the time. When we selected, Adobe was not yet in the cloud. At that time, there were also issues with getting non-profit pricing from Adobe. That made it an easy decision.

Return on Investment

  • Overall, Adobe Acrobat has a positive impact on our ROI, or we wouldn't have been using it for the past several years. The PDF software space is crowded but Adobe has the best product out there.
  • We started with Nitro, which was undoubtedly less expensive on the front end but necessitated more staff training and wasn't as robust and functional as Adobe Acrobat. Ultimately, Adobe has paid off since it's almost completely intuitive and takes care of practically every underwriting and marketing document-related task we've used it for.
  • Adding additional users is fast and easy. Adobe has an easy portal for managing our ongoing software subscription.
  • Of all the software we use, the Adobe product has needed the least amount of IT support. In fact, we haven't needed ANY IT support since we started using it. Cost- and time-saving at it's best.

  • Nitro provided the features we needed at a very comfortable price for a non-profit organization.
