Adobe Social

Adobe Social is not well suited to any type of social publishing, reporting or listening, particularly on a large scale within a major enterprise. It can, on occasion, completely fail to do what is asked of it. Customer support is slow and representatives often don't even read the ticket properly and ask questions answered by the ticket.

Brandwatch

Brandwatch Analytics is suited to situations where businesses need to understand the context behind digital conversations. It works well with high volumes of data, however there is a need for training and an understanding of the type of information that you are looking to confirm/explore within the data, therefore projects should be planned out and categorised prior to beginning analysis - this can be very time consuming

Pros

  • Integration with Site Catalyst could be of benefit as long as a subject matter expert in both platforms provides guidance
  • Some of the terms reporting can be useful at times to determine overall reach of a campaign across platforms
  • Recent update to newest version did bring some noticable improvements.

  • By far, Brandwatch's biggest strength is the ability to customize rules that influence how mentions are tagged and categorized as they enter the system. It allows for in depth categorical and topical analysis that many competing social listening platforms are unable to beat.
  • Brandwatch has a fantastic support team, and implements regular platform updates nearly every month. The platform is generally stable, and any issues are resolved very quickly.
  • Customizable graphs allow analysts to drill deep into data. After two years of 40+ hours a week in brandwatch, I am still finding new ways to drill down.
  • So many Boolean operators! Really helps when trying to get specific and accurate datasets.
  • Being able to collect samples of data (instead of being forced to collect 100%) really helps us stay underneath our datacap.

Cons

  • Very poor reporting features
  • Product is very rarely updated with new features
  • Feels like a Beta product

  • I've used Brandwatch for quite a while, and I have to say that I'm thoroughly satisfied with it. However, if I have to point out a "weakness", I'd say the lack of an app. It would be great to have a view of mentions and analytics on-the-go, via an app. Having said that, it's not a big deal-breaker - I've tried using Brandwatch on my phone and a few more times on my tablet and it works just fine.

Like I said previously, Adobe Social is the Cadillac of Social Listening Tools. It provides everything you need in one platform

Brandwatch is a simple tool that is easy to learn and understand. Without any rigorous training, the team can learn to use it and interpret the results in an efficient manner. It saves a lot of work and helps the team to focus on other important time consuming tasks. I would like to continue using Brandwatch.

Usability

Social moves at the speed of light, Adobe Social doesn't. I found posting via the system very cumbersome.

I've invited quite a few of my colleagues to try Brandwatch, and all of them were able to use its features with no assistance, and most of these had never used a social listening/monitoring tool before, or even a digital analytics tool! Brandwatch is not only easy to use, but filters, widgets, menus and other options are in intuitive places - it just works

Support

The Adobe support team is really helpful. We have recently gone through a number of account reps since our favorite rep was promoted off of our account, so we are hoping for better service in our newest rep.

I've never had to recur to any "extra" support, as Brandwatch have always been at hand whenever I needed a hand. That aside, Brandwatch always lets me know whenever something goes wrong, so I don't have to leave it to guesswork. That said, I've only had something going wrong just once in over one year, so my level of satisfaction is pretty high.

Online Training

Adobe Social6.0

Training was long and a little confusing. While a number of features carried over, they were still covered in this elongated training. It would have been nice to have training tailored to experience level with the product.

good knowledge, great tips, although the program seems a bit disconnected. It could improve it they create more free webinars and a good content calendar and tackle little topics in each webinar.Their trainers are top notch and they know a lot about the tool but they fall a bit low on technical level understanding of how the tool actually works

Implementation

Adobe Social5.0
Based on 1 answer
The implementation was done during our POC. We had a very mixed experience here, and have had some issues arise since based on the way the tool was implemented. An Adobe employee went ahead and made a change to our account that was unauthorized (helpful for our implementation) which caused issues in on boarding another team who needed the same change, but could not get it done without costly Adobe certification

Alternatives Considered

Hootsuite Enterprise is superior in many ways, but the biggest factor is probably that it is constantly evolving and adding new features, working directly with social media companies ahead of new releases. Adobe seems to have stopped developing their product.
Chris Cartwright profile photo
Unlike a lot of its competitors, Brandwatch has full access to the Twitter Firehose from the very first Tweet (instead of giving you a sample of Tweets from Twitter's API), it offers mentions in real-time instead of long time lags, and las (but definitely not least) it has open APIs, welcoming integrations from other social tools.

Return on Investment

  • Unable to pull reports on moderation activities as there is no way to pull reports based on conversation tags.
  • No integration with Instagram
  • Reporting is lacking in information, often missing key elements.
Chris Cartwright profile photo
  • Brandwatch doesn't directly generate money, but the insights I've gotten out of it have been able to help us deflect social media crises (hence saving costs and reputation), identify outages on the onset (hence saving call costs), and more. So more than ROI, Brandwatch is an intelligent solution that caters to Return on Business Initiatives first alongside the traditional ROI.
