Allocadia

In my opinion, no software exists that is perfect for 100% of organizations. However, Allocadia is industry neutral and works for 2 marketers or 2000 marketers...it's very scalable in terms of functionality and infrastructure.

Overall, we have been extremely satisfied with Silverpop, the platform, as well as the high level of account support we have. Outages are rare, if any, and we are always notified well in advance if there is a release (usually once or twice a year), that could short term affect the speed of the system. For someone looking at Silverpop during the selection process, some key questions to ask could be how they handle import of data, whether email lists or data from your e-commerce platform as well. What is on their roadmap that will help handle more of the 1:1 messaging and trying to prevent recipients from getting too many emails in 1 day more easily - currently a bit manual to manipulate each individual query. Silverpop is a self-service platform, so someone looking for more full-service should ask about the level of support they might receive and if they offer any full-service features.

Pros

  • Plan and allocating quarterly budgets.
  • Providing reports on your budget.
  • Generating "MRM" codes to tie our purchase orders in finance to our project codes within our individual team budgets.
Nick Miller profile photo
  • Automated Messages - we currently have over 70 automated messages going out on any particular day through feeds and API calls that we pass to Silverpop. We rely on these automated messages to communicate to our customers and can rely on Silverpop to always be up and running to get these messages out.
  • Robust query building - We can target customers easily based on a combination of demographic profile data, as well as email and site behavior and purchase behavior, allowing us to finely segment our audience
  • Deep dive reporting - the UI reporting, as well as the available reports to download through the API give us tremendous insight into how our subscribers are responding to email.

Cons

  • The wording between the "plan" and "forecast" sections can be confusing at first, as they both imply the same type of activity.
  • Better recovery options for admins if folders are accidentally deleted - had this happen and took a week of manual recreation from an internal admin to get us up and running again.

  • Dealing with duplicate email addresses.
  • More advanced landing page design.
  • Easier administration for SFDC integration.

Basically there are no reasons why not to renew the contract. A great plus is the steps Allocadia is currently doing in order to upgrade their software and user interface with state of the art technology

SilverPop is a great marketing tool that integrates with Salesforce to provide customers and employees a great buying and selling experience. The software takes some very difficult tasks and makes them easy to accomplish. With proper setup and management, Silverpop gives you the tools to gain insight into the productiveness of campaigns.

While several of the other reviews have mentioned poor performance in this department, we have only had one situation where the system was down (although it was down for several hours). Silverpop segments its clients on different servers, and I know that the problem we experienced only occurred on our specific server (maybe other servers have had their own problems?) but our service has been reliable otherwise.

Some parts of the system are very quick - others can really crawl. I imagine it depends on overall server strain - but I think part of it can also be traced back to the specific browser being used

The Salesforce Integration support team is fantastic. I'd give them greater than a 10 if possible. The rest of the support team can be extremely frustrating to work with. Too often they try to blame something obscure and refuse to escalate or look into the issue. And on occasion when you find system glitches they don't seem to care about fixing them

The online trainings are very detailed (for the most part) and really walk through the entire system. They are a little dry, but they are usually broken up into segments to allow you to skip to the parts you need.

Implementation for the most part went smoothly - and I don't think the hiccups were Silverpop's problem. Understanding our internal need for multiple IP addresses and handling our CRM integration made for some bumps in the road - but that was later, after our first year -- not our initial implementation. The initial implementation went smoothly.

Alternatives Considered

Before Allocadia I was using Excel to track my budget. This led to version control issues when sharing and more potential for incorrect functions to give inaccurate information about my budget.
Nick Miller profile photo
I've used IBM Campaign and Apteco PeopleStage and find WCA significantly easier to get to grips with. Simplicity comes from the presentation of the data to the tool and an intuitive UI. IBM Campaign has significantly greater ease of access to and manipulation of ad hoc data sources, but that ease can lead to excessive/unecessary data being drawn in and laziness around preparation.

Return on Investment

  • Allocadia has helped me hit 99.9% of my budget allocation and spend for 3 consecutive quarters.
  • Helps my manager be hands off with her budget, but provide visibility of what is being spent when she needs that information.
Nick Miller profile photo
  • You get a lot of features out of the box as standard.
  • What you can't get do of the box, you can either purchase as an add-on or execute via some API development.
  • Automating simple campaigns easily frees up more time to work on more complex work.
