Solid Commerce
Solid Commerce may be helpful for small businesses that want to reach from one marketplace to become multi-channel based. However, I would recommend short contracts, long trial periods, request a teammate with 2+ years experience at the company and don't be afraid to communicate your needs. I do feel there is a place for the company in the marketplace, it is less expensive than most, it has a lot of benefits in segmentation and pricing needs, but it can lack in reliability and is not as reactive to customers for an e-commerce market.

StructuredWeb's team was professional, easy to work with, and experts in what they do. They guided us well throughout the process and kept open, frequent communication between our teams.

Pros
Solid Commerce
  • It did allow for multi-channel promotion of the same set of SKUs. It diminished qty on all marketplaces when there was a sale on one.
  • It allowed for multiple skus to change price.
  • It allowed for SKU segmentation and multiple attribute tagging.
  • When their company was smaller and more customer service driven, there was a lot of creative thinking to create sales growth.

StructuredWeb
  • Makes it easy for vendors to load their go-to-market assets to the centralized platform.
  • Makes it easy for partners to find vendor-created assets in a centralized location.
  • Makes our cloud marketplace more sticky since both vendors and partners can easily create, distribute, and co-brand go-to-market assets.

Cons
Solid Commerce
  • As their company grew and our e-commerce department grew, Solid Commerce lacked in customer service.
  • At one point we could see a high turnover rate of Solid Commerce employees, leading to a disconnect for customers.
  • We had a hard time functioning with other external tools like ShipWorks, ShipStation, our DMS, even uploading using excel files became unreliable.
  • We ended our relationship with Solid Commerce less then a year ago because we could not rely on their automation and communication. They knew this for months before we decided to terminate the relationship.

  • Need to be able to have a self-serve model for quick platform adoption
  • Internal training needs time and coordination

Alternatives Considered
Solid Commerce
ChannelAdvisor is a step up in building our e-commerce business. They have met our communication and customer service needs. They work with our other tools like e-Desk and ShipStation reliably. However, that step up comes with additional costs. ChannelAdvisor is an investment that is higher then Solid Commerce. However, we are about 10 months in and not once have we lost connection with ShipStation or not been able to print pick tickets

StructuredWeb
StructuredWeb is more flexible and customizable than other products the company has used in the past. Campaigns move more quickly. It has allowed us to grow at scale. The data reporting is much more robust, which allows for a constant feedback loop to optimize our work. Our channel partners seem to appreciate the ease of use, as well.

Return on Investment
Solid Commerce
  • They helped us grow significantly from a small e-comm business to almost triple our size in four years.
  • They led us to know where our breaking points are in a same day service oriented environment.
  • They have great segmentation of SKUs and different pricing options of SKUs.
  • They did have some creative thinkers to help their customers but I wouldn't know if they are still there.
