What is Arena PLM and QMS?

Arena understands modern product companies rely on distributed teams and global supply chains to develop products, ensure regulatory compliance (FDA, ISO, ITAR, EAR, and environmental compliance), and respond to customer demands.

Arena states that they have more than 1,400 global high-tech electronics and medical device customers. Companies with complex products comprised of electrical, mechanical, and software designs need a single system to collaborate in real-time. Arena has been instrumental in allowing our company to continue functioning at a high level while working form home. If we did not have the ability to approve documentation through Arena, it would have been much more difficult to progress the projects.

Arena can be access from anywhere, so the transition to WFH was very easy, no down time, or issues, room at my home became my work office in an instant! We were able to Zoom and share screens to talk about just about everything going on in Arena and elsewhere

Although I do not work from home, many of our employees do. Having some people in the office and others remote has made it challenging to collaborate and Arena has helped make it easier. Prior to Arena PLM we had a paper system, which would have been an unimaginable pain during the transition to work from home orders. It is an incomparably better option than paper document management.

The systems allows for secured access twenty four seven, globally at any time. This allows our business process to continue as per normal and allow us to interact via the system with our team internationally and our suppliers internationally. The collaboration between our internal teams with external is simply and easy with Arena.

Since all reviewers were already familiar with Arena, the review and approval process was almost not impacted by the change to remote working in Q1. Arena remains our most important cross-functional software tool.

We have been using Arena since long before the Pandemic. However documenting items thoroughly in Arena has proved to be very useful when working away from the physical products. I have relied a lot on the information on Arena while working from home. It would be great to add an option of adding supplier link to the item description (a designated link section not simply adding it in the description)

We work in a medical device company which is considered essential in the current crisis. We have been working in office and the workflow hasn't changed. Arena is not a desktop tool but a browser based application which is very convenient to access from different devices. Even though it is a browser application it has been pretty consistent in keeping the server up to date and we haven't faced any issues with connectivity.

The number and frequency of regular cross-functional meetings has increased since work from home orders went into place. This has spawned more cross functional projects involving team members in different geographic areas and time zones. Arena has been key in maintaining a unified source of information and platform for both uploading and downloading documents that illustrate project goals, milestones, and progress. Arena has facilitated cross-functional collaboration by providing a reliable, comprehensive, and intuitive platform for project documentation.

During this unprecedented time where we all find ourselves working from home, Arena with it's scribe integration has made it easy to keep teammates/coworkers updated with progress on BOM implementation and the release of new parts/drawings.

Since its online, Arena has helped enabled many employees to work from home. ECO's can easily be reviewed and approved electronically and through online meetings. Also, documents are easily shared through Arena's online storage. This helps us remotely communicate with people different departments; documents can be shared between employees in engineering, software, purchasing, operations, and quality.

Luckily, most of our business processes were designed for "remote work" since we have an international presence and we regularly collaborate on product or process changes through our online systems. We did not miss a beat when WFH started when it came to implementing our engineering changes or updating documents, both of which can easily be done from home.

We also use Arena's Deviations feature to implement temporary instructions for our factory. Since our factory shut down, we had to make accommodations to renew those deviations once the factory reopened.

Arena has kept the change control process consistent with what it was prior to stay at home orders, and has provided ease in document changes despite the recent changes to organization. Rather than in person communication, our business has been forced to do a majority of work remotely. There are now more activities and changes going on with products that are less present to all affected employees. Arena acts as the core platform to support us in these times, and makes it easy to organize and view product and QMS related changes, even to those who are not directly involved.

Arena allows cross-collaboration across our global teams. With many of us now working from home, Arena allows everyone to collaborate on the engineering change management process that we built, including the creation of new part numbers, BOMs, etc. Similar to most browser-based software, Arena makes working from home slightly easier.

Our work with Arena has continued without interruption. We log on and use Arena remotely, and that continues to work for us. Having a web portal and separate logins is useful in this regard.

Everyone is mostly working from home and this has really helped us use Arena more as we all need to get to files on our own without having to use the help of others.

During the work from home order, the majority of our organization began working remotely full time. However, we did have essential personnel working from the office (i.e. Logistics and Laboratory personnel). Arena made collaborating with those individuals easy. Furthermore, anything that needed approval could be readily accessed through Arena. No VPN or anything else is needed since Arena is accessible through the web browser. We didn't notice any decrease in productivity working remotely with Arena.

We have utilized the Arena platform the same way as we would in the office. We have some remote employees but 95% of the employees are back in the office. Arena was just as effective when we were remote.
