What is Dropbox Sign?

Dropbox Sign is a way to sign and request signatures securely online. Users can add legally valid signatures to any agreement from new-hire offer letters to loans to sales contracts to NDAs. Its user interface, admin controls, document tracking, and enterprise-grade security make it more secure than pen and paper methods and come default out-of-the-box.

How it works:

Prepare and Send
Upload documents that need signing to Dropbox Sign from cloud storage or a computer. Then, drag and drop the fields to sign. Finally, add the signer's email address and click send.

Sign
Signers are notified with a link to sign the document on their device. Once signed, completed agreements are immediately available to view in the user's Dropbox Sign account.

Manage
The Dropbox Sign dashboard tracks the progress of signature requests, automatically sends reminders to signers, and lets users view all signed documents. The branding can also be customized and access for team members is managed inside the account settings.

Dropbox Sign integrates with apps like Salesforce, Slack, Oracle, HubSpot CRM, and Microsoft Word so documents can be sent for signature directly from them. Dropbox Sign also integrates with cloud storage services like Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote, Box, and OneDrive, so signed documents can be automatically saved found later at anytime in a preferred cloud storage accounts.

For deeper functionality, embed eSignature functionality directly into an app or website with the Dropbox Sign API. Features like embedded signing, custom branding, and embedded templates create an in-product signing experience. I use DropBox Sign to send contracts to healthcare organizations/clients to allow Latent Talent, LLC to partner with these organizations to recruit for their open positions or specific roles. DropBox Sign is so easy to use and it makes it easy for clients who have never used it because it is basically a one-click process and you have a signed contract.
  • User Friendly
  • Ability to copy & paste formatting makes for a simple process on the users end
  • Ability to click into DropBox sign and clients can easily fill in what they need to and have a one click signing experience
  • I wish it had the ability to recognize where the lines were in the formatting so it would put the signature box or “date” box in the perfect spot without me having to drag it around
  • I also wish it could recognize the font and font size that was used in my contracts and simply place the same formatting for the date and anything that needs to be typed into the contract by the client
Sending contracts to clients is very simple. Being able to add their email address and send straight from the application is very user friendly. It has been awesome to be able to send clients a quick email rather than get a signature on paper. It’s quick, reliable, and great when you have clients all over the US.

I generate agreements and have them signed by both parties to the agreement.
  • Cost is reasonable
  • Allows for fast execution of agreements
  • Provides a good electronic paper trail
  • I get a lot of bounce backs that are not accurate--the other party did get the document even though Dropbox says they did not.
  • I would like the distribution order to be more obvious--its easy to miss.
  • I have used HelloSign for many years. So far I have not seen any improvements over what HelloSign offered.
Under HelloSign I had a lot of trouble with Customer Service. Hopefully it is better staffed and more responsive under Dropbox Sign.

Dropbox has made getting contracts signed so much easier!!!!! I purchased Dropbox Sign to be able to send my clients digital contracts and capture their signature. Previously they had to print, sign and scan it back to me. I often did not get fully executed contracts. Now that I use Dropbox Sign, I simply pull up the google doc, use the Dropbox sign extension to send it to the client, they sign easily and return, and I sign and send a final contract. Dropbox keeps copies of all my fully executed contracts by date but I can also download and store myself in my own client files. Its safe, secure, affordable and easy to use.
  • integrates with google
  • is simple to format and use
  • stores everything in one place for you
  • Link to google drive to store the files more easily
I priced several versions of electronic signature software and Dropbox had the most affordable option as well as google integration. Other products were much more expensive and included things I didn't need, nor did they integrate with google.

I have used Dropbox Sign to complete contracts with vendors and employees. I find the product easy to navigate and use and one that I would easily recommend to others. It is very easy to upload documents and send them via email, track them, get them signed, and even remind recipients to complete documents as needed.
  • Email signatures
  • Document tracking
  • Document storage
  • Tech support
  • Cost control
  • Load times
Dropbox Sign is best for contracts, or other documents that require the collection of signatures. What we liked the most was the ability to collect multiple signatures from multiple parties and the ability to control who signed when and in what order. This made executing contracts in a series or order easier than previous methods.

We we send release waivers and Franchise Documents through HelloSign that require multiple signatures from different groups of people at sometimes the same time. It reduces timing on getting documents back and fully executed tremendously. Allows us as a company to be more efficiant by storing the templates as well.
  • Saves time with getting documents back signed
  • Allows multiple parties to sign simultaneously
  • More professional looking with brand standards
  • Allow editing documents that have not been signed by any signer yet
  • Save and reuse for same signers, not just duplicating the template
Well suited for all companies that need to get documents completed or updated systemwide.

I use it to send contracts. We are a remote company, so it makes it easier to get contracts e signed. It also allows us to track the progress of the customer signing. IE if they read the contract or not. It also has a super useful feature that will nude the customer about signing. Love that.
  • “Nudge Customers to sign”
  • Keeps track of contracts
  • Makes it super simple to build fields
  • Shows history of viewing
  • Alerts when signed by parties
  • I kind of like it I don’t have any issues.
It’s great to get contracts signed. Not sure what else it would be used for.

We take sensitive information very seriously and by using Dropbox Sign we are able to store documents safely. New hires are able to fill out new hire forms anytime and anywhere. Electronic forms and e-signatures ensure forms are completed before submission and decreases the likelihood of an error. Dropbox Sign has made our onboarding process smooth and as easy as 1,2,3.
  • Storing Documents
  • Electronic Forms
  • Up to date notifications on status
  • Very user friendly even to people who have never used electronic forms
  • More templates for the price
Dropbox Sign is perfect for us for onboarding clients of all sizes. Our focus isn't just on what's easier for us but on what works best for our client and their employees. We love keeping things efficient, simple, and stress-free. Using Dropbox Sign electronic forms has helped us do that!

Makes it pretty easy to have business development leads to sign our NDAs, Eval Agreements, all the way to closing.
  • Importing documents works great
  • Templates are huge time-savers
  • Audit trail of all the events leading up to the signing of the document
  • Ability to download an existing template
  • Make signing with finger more natural
It works really well for user interviews release forms that need to be signed with every call I take. It would be great to have it connect and automatically send requests for signature closer to the data of the calendar meeting.

Support is a challenge to work with, the product has bugs with cc'ing others that they can't figure out, they changed the brand on us after acquisition but not the domain name. The people we had contracts out with got confused. Our team members got confused. The entire experience sucked so much that we decided to switch to DocuSign and we will not be going back to HelloSign/Dropbox Sign as a result.
  • It keeps your documents in their system for a long time
  • It emails you a copy of your document when it is signed as a PDF attachment
  • Their confirmation of signature emails include the email address of the person who signed
  • Their technical support is abysmal. We have an ongoing issue with cc'ing folks to contracts that they cannot figure out.
  • They haphazardly with no regard for their customers migrated to a new brand. It disrupted us but they don't care.
If you need the free tier and DocuSign's free tier is too difficult to sign up for some reason then try DropBox Sign. It is my opinion that you will get lousy support, lousy communication on major changes, but at least you wont be paying for the privilege to be annoyed by them.

When the organization struggled to choose an e-sign vendor, I chose one to use in the interim while the company decided on a global option. Dropbox Sign (or Hellosign as I know it) was an excellent option for my needs. I don't feel that they nickel and dime every upgraded option like their competition and are equally robust in features. The UI is clear and makes sense to the people signing the document (I never had to follow up to ensure that the candidates were signing the docs correctly nor leaving out important information)
  • Clean UI
  • Ease of use
  • easy to build templates
  • When creating text boxes to drag in, the following text box is the same size as the previous which can cause issues when you can't overlap text boxes.
Dropbox Sign always seemed like an efficient and quick tool to use for building offer letters and getting them signed by candidates.

I manage a shared kitchen facility with 80+ small business members. I use Dropbox Sign with each member both for our initial membership agreement, and cancellation form as well. I utilize the service and platform at least a couple of times a month and really like that there is an automatic paper trail built into the system. Since it's timestamped with all relevant information it's nice that I am able to reference all of that in the case of a discrepancy.
  • Information/Sign Log
  • Automatically Emails forms to each party for their signature
  • Notifies once forms are both opened and signed
  • Template creating can be kind of a hassle
  • Grouping forms for signatures from the same person could be a lot more intuitive
  • Depending on the form sometimes the form freezes as you're entering information
Well suited for electronic signatures from yourself and other parties.
You're able to create your own templates and insert where signatures and dates are auto filled.
Leaves a log and "paper trail" for when things were opened and signed by each party.

If you have multiple documents you need signed by the same person, it doesn't always quite work as intended.

I use it to send out contract documents for signature. It is beneficial because the contract agreements are immediate.
  • Notifications of where we are in the signature process.
  • Pretty quick turnaround with support.
  • Easy to use.
  • It looks like only 5 people can be carbon copied. In some cases there may be more needed.
In construction the contract documents must be turned around quickly. Dropbox Sign does this well.

Contracts and service agreements
  • Easy to use
  • Easy to track
  • Easy to email
  • The number of template links needs to up increased.
It is great for sending contracts that need signatures. It is not very good for service agreement renewals because of the limited number of template links that are allowed in my single user plan.

I use Dropbox Sign daily to obtain electronic signatures from clients. It’s efficient, fast and easy for my company and most importantly, my Clients.
I upgraded and purchased a plan 2 years ago and has been a happy Customer ever since!
  • Easy instructions
  • Uploads contracts quickly
  • Sends notifications
  • Reasonable monthly fee
  • Send Clients an immediate copy of contract
It is well suited because I can upload, sign, and request a signature within minutes.

There have been times when a Client would like to go back into the contract to re-read specifics or simply to keep for their records and they can’t so I will have to stop what I’m doing, open my account and email it to the Client.

I use it to get Special Education documents signed by multiple team members participating in IEP meetings, including teachers, students, parents, administrators and outside service organizations. Some of the members may be participating in the meeting virtually, so it's a convenient way to get their signatures.
  • fields and textboxes to designate where to sign
  • notifying when documents have been signed; how many have signed and how many still need to sign.
  • sending out email reminders for signatures
  • letting the sender know at the time email reminders are sent out so we don't duplicate the effort.
when you need multiple signatures from people in different locations. In my case parents may be attending the meeting virtually from home or work, and our CEO, who needs to sign the document, is not physically located at the campus where I work.

Dropbox Sign allows me to get documents to our staff and potential candidates quickly and without issue. It is simple to use and has minimal difficulty even for those not electronically savvy. It has cut down time to get items completed and is nice to be able to send reminders.
  • Ease of use
  • getting documents signed
  • Sometimes it can be less friendly when mobile.
Dropbox Sign is a great resource, and I can't think of any downfalls at the moment. We plan to continue use with our company.

We use Dropbox Sign for internal contracts (employee NDAs, etc.) as well as contracts for our clients and talent we collaborate with on a regular basis. Our HR team and Marketing team it the most, and we have found that it Dropbox Sign is the easiest way to organize all documents and users in one central location.
  • Ease of use
  • Reminder emails
  • Organization of multiple templates
  • Organization of documents
  • Organization of documents can be clunky as I have to scroll all the way down to find a specific document I am looking for
  • The software tends to lag a little when I’m trying to go through the upload process to send a document out for signature
Dropbox Sign works best for sending out premade documents and/or contracts that need a binding signature. It also works well with storing templates of documents that need to be used more than once. Dropbox Sign might not be appropriate for a contract or document that is not legally binding, like a work or school essay.

Our insurance agency uses drop box sign so our clients can electronically sign authorization forms, applications, and other documents that need to be signed. The e-signature platform allows us to expediate our processing.
  • The ability to label text fields
  • The ability to cc someone on a signature request
  • The ability to send a reminder
  • The date field can be made smaller
  • "Insert Everywhere" should be eliminated
  • Dropbox Sign allows us to expedite our processing

We use Dropbox Sign frequently for executing construction contracts and change orders. It has eliminated the need for long lead times, mailing paper documents, post office delays, printer issues, etc. Customers seem more likely to sign and to start projects faster because this makes it much easier to do so.
  • Extremely user-friendly
  • No need to train clients or coach them through the process
  • Instant communication
  • It would help if there were fillable fields for clients to type in their own words for product selections on contract forms.
Dropbox Sign has made life much easier and more convenient in the office, and the price was much more affordable than DocuSign. The only time it hasn't worked well, has been with clients who do not have access to email, which is pretty rare these days anyway. Also, if there are any document edits required, it can be a little annoying to have to delete the old file, restart the submission, and sometimes have the client complain that the link won't work, because they are using the previous email.

We used Dropbox Sign for the new hire application process within our Human Resources department. This saves the internal personnel time by having the application link directly available from our website. New hire candidates simply click, fill in, and electronically sign the application. When the application is signed we are sent a link back to the completed document. Win win for the candidate and our Human Resources department.

We utilize Dropbox Sign to onboard new employees as well as onboarding new vendors. Dropbox Sign makes it really easy to collect signatures and other pertinent information from both our employees and vendors alike when processing their paperwork. We get a copy. They get a copy. It is the best of both worlds. I would also say the ability to track what paperwork has been sent, when it has been sent, and the ability to followup, top-notch!
  • Collecting of signatures
  • The ability to followup on tasks
  • The ability to send copies of signed paperwork to party who signed effortlessly
  • The ability to route the signed documents to many parties in the organization
  • The costs in adding additional users is unappealing
Whether your organization is big or small, I can find Dropbox Sign scalable in its offerings. I would also say that if your organization is already using Dropbox, using Dropbox Sign is an effortless integration and works well in the environment. Even if you don't use Dropbox, Dropbox Sign makes it really easy to send and track paperwork.

I utilize a contract with my clients so expectations are clear. Dropbox Sign helps me show them the final contact to be signed, while keeping paper waste down. Dropbox Sign is perfect for my small organizing business. It keeps my contracts legit, paperless and organized. I have a contract with every client who wants my services. The contract helps clarify after our initial meeting the expectations and goals of my services. We use it for signing all types of agreements, whether for sealing a partnership or getting a client on board. We are trying to automate the process so partners can request and fill in these agreements directly from our partner page or from our app interface. Currently, it's more of a manual process.
  • Reminder of the document status.
  • Template design: it's not that intuitive to understand how to create a template.
  • detecting empty fields like date or Signature.
  • An automated date field that would be the date of creation of the document would be immensely useful - but missing.
I haven't got much experience with other signing platforms, but I think there is quite some room for improvement in the current state of the app. I believe a redesign would be best. That said, the app does the job; I wouldn't say I'd recommend it expressively, but I wouldn't prevent people from using it either. Again, it does the job.
