Overall Satisfaction with Acumatica

Premier Computing uses Acumatica to track its financials and implementation projects and budgets. We are a VAR and sell and implement other clients as well. We use it in AR and AP, Project Accounting and other modules.
  • General Search - if you forget which workspace a particular screen is in, you can do the general search.
  • Generic Inquiries are particular helpful on being able to assimilate and use and export data. Having some control to select tables and fields and pull them together into usable data is imperative for good business decision making.
  • It is great that Acumatica offers a platform in which it is easy to attach an API or other customizations relatively easily.
  • Acumatica does a good job with future proofing the technology when it comes to upgrades. Because there are reasonable incentives to upgrade every year, there is no excuse for not upgrading and staying in a current version that Acumatica can and will support.
  • It may have been resolved today with the new Configuration Tool that was released today. But adding user fields and manipulating screens is very difficult with using customization projects. There needs to be a tool specifically that allows user to edit their screens and add new fields to the UI without having to publish a customization.
  • I deal with a lot of customers in the Construction Industry. I keep hearing that Acumatica is missing some functionality that is really helpful for a lot of construction companies. Clients I work with keep saying things like, "you would think Acumatica would have thought that this is a big part of the construction industry for most companies like ours". Allowing subprojects, combining retainage, and transparency on how to report to owners are a few to mention.
  • The consultants all enter time and submit for review, and that allows us to analyze project budgets. Acumatica has helped us to improve our visibility into projects and whether we are making money. I would say since using the budgeting tools, we have improved our billing time by 25% and are being more fair with clients time.

I worked for a partner that sold SAP Business One and ByDesign. The very best thing I would say about Acumatica compared to those platforms is the support team. I have not seen a level of support that is actually able to resolve very difficult issues. Especially when they are able to use a script or have to involve their technical team. I am still impressed by the turn around time.
I also would say that compared to SAP, the encouragement and incentives to upgrade your system regularly are very well positioned. It allows for Acumatica to help support now and in the future.

I really liked one of the points mentioned in keynote today. It said that a buy in of all the stakeholders helps in making an Acumatica implementation really successful. If you have 1 person making all of the decisions for the implementation, then it tends to go badly.
Companies without an IT and/or Financial expertise will not do well with using Acumatica to its full potential.
