Overall Satisfaction with Appian

Appian is mainly being used within our department as a replacement to our linear Excel tracker. We are planning to involve our stakeholders within the organisation for data visibility and also improving user experience by replacing BAU email communication with Appian's workflow.

As new program/contract gets initiated, the standalone Excel tracker and tool are developed as part of our standard build procedure. With the number of programs that kept growing, this became unscalable and our main goal to use Appian is to remove the need to keep on building a standalone tracker and tool for each program and eventually centralised all our data.

  • Works really well with Business Process Excelence. Business Level 4 process can easily be re-used for workflow models in Appian.
  • Really liked the concept of "tasks" in Appian where anyone within the group can easily identify any pending tasks as well as identifying urgent requests.
  • Forms and Reports in Appian are very seamless. Designs are very simple and modern.
  • Forms and reports are automatically mobile friendly without any extra effort in developing
  • Appian seems to come with a standard design (web style sheet). Would be nice to have some presets or a tool that can design custom style sheet.
  • Occasionally, but not very often, forms or reports are not displayed correctly in Internet Explorer and users are recommended to use Chrome instead.
  • Significantly reduced the number of minutes from opening a large-formulated-shared Excel tracker in a shared network location from more than 5 minutes to few seconds in a web browser.
  • Automatic generation of formal documents from the data entered in Appian increases productivity from generating 5 documents to 8 documents per day on average (depending on the requests).
I believe Appian works really well for a business with complex process workflows and lots of interaction with external stakeholders within and/or outside the organisation. I would recommend this for an in-house management and not a customer centric application (i.e. online shopping).
