Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce

BigCommerce is being used to drive e-commerce sales across three unique brands, as well as advertise the service offerings of our various internal departments and generate leads. At this point in time, we do not have our BigCommerce websites integrated with (1) Each other, or with (2) Our ERP system.
  • Turnkey APIs with many top-notch service add-ons (e.g., Shipper HQ for real-time shipping quotes).
  • The ability to fine-tune SEO meta content.
  • The ability to accommodate a wide range of products and product options.
  • You can import/export many databases (products, customers, orders).
  • We're not able to run multiple storefronts off a single product database. Right now, multiple storefronts means multiple unique product databases that must be maintained.
  • We're not able to import/export category-level SEO data, so getting a large, complex store set up is very time-consuming.
  • Attracted more site visitors.
  • Increased the number of orders.
Depending on how many resources you have to invest in this platform, BigCommerce can be quite scalable. BigCommerce has also done an excellent job opening up the platform to third-party developers.
While we are pleased to use several turnkey apps for BigCommerce (e.g., Shipper HQ, Mailchimp for BigCommerce, Shogun page builder), we do not ourselves make extensive use of the open APIs.
BigCommerce is a nice balance between price, security/stability and features. We recently redeveloped our 3 websites and chose to stay on the BigCommerce platform because it remains in that very nice sweet spot for our business needs and budget. I also like having the assurance of the robust customer support that BigCommerce offers.
If you are a small to medium company with limited IT resources (i.e., unable to build and maintain your e-commerce website in-house), then BigCommerce is a decent compromise. This e-commerce platform is solid on the fundamentals (usability, SEO, page speed). You are working with an out-of-the-box platform, but there is a wide amount of customization available, and BigCommmerce development is always working on adding more.

Using BigCommerce

7 - BigCommerce is used by the following teams: sales & customer service, marketing, shipping.
2 - An ideal team to support BigCommerce would include (1) Graphic designers, (2) Coders, (3) Product merchandisers and (4) Order fulfillment specialists (process/pick/ship), with the numbers of each depending on the size and needs of your business. That said, we make do with one person who handles both basic HTML and product merchandising duties as part of their larger job and one full-time order fulfillment specialist.
