Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce

BigCommerce is being used by the whole organization as an e-commerce shopping platform. 100% of our business is conducted online so it is our point of entry for customers. BigCommerce is a simple platform that doesn't require (for the most part) developers to do updates. The user interface is simple to use and effective.
  • Easy learning curve
  • Good customer support
  • Easy-to-use interface
  • Theme updates often require developers
  • Not as many apps as Shopify
  • Reduced costs of merchandising.
  • Reduced developer resources.
  • Attractive templates to choose from.
Scalability has been so far, so good. We have a catalog with over 10,000 SKUs with multiple categories. There doesn't seem to be any limitations to how many products or categories we can add.
We are able to connect to multiple apps. This includes apps for accounting, shipping, warehouse operations, and more.
Magento requires more developer resources which gets expensive and frustrating, particularly if you don't have an on-site development team. Shopify looks like a good platform, however, you have to pay for almost all apps. BigCommerce has more apps included with the platform which helps to keep costs down.
The price is good and BigCommerce is well-suited for businesses who do not have a team of developers or IT professionals. There are a lot of instructional videos and training documents, so it doesn't take a long time to get merchandisers and marketers up to speed. Also, there are a lot of apps to enhance BigCommerce.

Evaluating BigCommerce and Competitors

Yes - Magento
Magento requires more developer resources and was frustrating to use.
  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
  • Product Reputation
  • Positive Sales Experience with the Vendor
  • Third-party Reviews
Product features and reputation were the most important. We needed a solution to replace Magento, and BigCommerce ticked all of the boxes.
I wouldn't change anything.
