Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT

I work at a public university with about 40,000 students currently. We use Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT for our CRM, coming up on 200,000 constituent records. I am part of the Advancement Services team who manages our constituent data, keeping track of contact information, solicitation requests, employment, donations, acknowledgments and receipting, and basically every interaction we have. We use the database view part of RE NXT while the front-line fundraisers use NXT web view exclusively. I switch back and forth between the two in order to assist fundraisers with managing their prospects.
  • Lists - filters and columns are fairly intuitive to use, and I appreciate that, unlike Queries, it is set up to combine duplicate information into one line.
  • The Needs Attention section provides useful insight into prospects. I like that it includes upcoming birthdays.
  • Actions and newly assigned and other alerts on the Work Center Overview are helpful.
  • Lists: there are filters and columns missing as options. In particular, we use the Volunteer tab for tracking board members. I want fundraisers to be able to find their college/area's board members using a list or in their portfolios using the Volunteer tab as a filter.
  • I'd like to be able to see Fund information in NXT, like the attributes.
  • The Constituent ID (aka the RE NXT unique identifier) should be more prominently placed. I require that field from the fundraisers when I make updates to ensure that we are both looking at the same record. I have had issues with fundraisers sending me ID numbers from the Alias fields that now show up in the Constituent Summary tile instead.

  • The integration with Financial Edge has created a checks and balances system with our donations and accounting which catches potential issues before auditors do.
  • We certainly have grown in the number of donors, constituent records, and funds raised, and RE NXT has been essential to keep it all organized.
  • We switched from issuing a tax receipt after every gift to a single consolidated annual tax receipt for each donor last year. Due to RE's export and merging options, the process took significantly less amount of time and was a relatively smooth process considering the large number of donations involved.
Very recently, I have been working with fundraisers to prioritize their discovery prospects, the ones they are not actively working with, some of whom have never been contacted before. We started using the built-in wealth rating of the stars 1-5 to help them sort and start reaching out to the highest capacity prospects first.
It was a mix of prerecorded and online instructor training. It was fairly thorough, and the instructors were very knowledgeable. Every institution uses some fields differently so it is not 100% applicable to every trainee. I think fundraisers would benefit more from in-person training, but my organization did not request that from Blackbaud.

Do you think Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT's feature set?

Yes

Did Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT again?

Yes

Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT works well for filtering and sorting portfolio assignments and helping fundraisers look at their prospect lists in different ways. Entering Actions immediately after a meeting seems to be working fairly well for them; the newer "Copy Action" function is phenomenal for saving time. I wish the filters and column/output options were more extensive, including more Fund specific choices and Volunteer options. Also, I could use an option to see only Actions by a specific fundraiser on specific constituents as well. Even just fundraiser-specific actions for records in their own portfolios.
