Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Conductor for SEO purposes: keyword research, keyword rank monitoring, competitor rank monitoring, content creation suggestions, and some technical SEO help. It used only within the marketing department.

Pros and Cons

Keyword Rank Tracking.
Keyword Research/Suggestions.
Technical website SEO.

Backlinks: Checking and recommendations/suggestions.
Basic audit tools (spelling/broken links/etc.
Being more than an aggregator of data from other sources like search console, SEMRush.
Make the interface more user friendly. So many places to navigate to, would be helpful if there was a main dashboard to use as a "homebase"/ starting point.

Return on Investment

ROI tracking was not implemented for the tool.
Other measurement/reporting was not set up to measure effectiveness.
This was mostly an organizational issue, no fault of Conductor. I came into the job with no tracking in place, and was told we would not be renewing, so did not put effort into it either.

Data Integration

Google Analytics, Google Search Console, these are basic integrations that many SEO tools offer to help give a better picture of SEO health. Besides being basic connections, these provide little additional help to what can be seen inside these platforms on their own.

Strategic Collaboration

Conductor helps show the connection between content and web teams for SEO purposes, but on its own will not help with processes and efficiencies. If anything it helped point out inefficiencies and departmental needs within those spaces.

Marketing Strategy

Have not used Explorer much, but it is a decent tool for getting insights on specific websites as far as comparing keyword rankings and SERP features. Looks and feels like other tools I've used, nothing that really sets it apart from those tools.

Support Rating

Support staff very helpful and friendly, our account manager was great.

Alternatives Considered

SEMrush, Screaming Frog SEO Spider, SpyFu, Hotjar, Siteimprove, BrightEdge, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Ahrefs, Google Ads (formerly AdWords), Bing Ads, Google Data Studio and Google PageSpeed Insights

Used many platforms and tools over the years, current company had a contract with Conductor when I came onboard so was able to use it now.

Likelihood to Recommend

Conductor is an enterprise level SEO solution and it comes with the price tag for it. If your website is under 1,000 pages or your traffic is under 20k users a month, this may be a a bigger tool than you need or can get with other solutions. Otherwise, it is a great solution for larger sites, ecommerce, and agencies.
