Overall Satisfaction with Cvent Event Management

Direct Travel's Meetings and Events Technology department uses Cvent to build event websites and registration platforms for meetings we plan. The flexibility of the software makes it easy for our team to develop registrations sites either simple or complex, tailored to the customer's specifications. Our team is able to collect specific attendee information, travel requests, and any other number of required details for each event we host. We also utilize Cvent's mobile event app for a number of programs to enhance the onsite experience. Because Cvent has modules for nearly every element in the event planning process, the software integrations flow well from stage to stage of the planning process with little issue, much better than siloed data would.
  • Registration platform can handle nearly any need.
  • Event websites are easy to build and support customization.
  • Support is available in multiple formats should you run into issues.
  • There is a large user community where you can reach out for ideas and help.
  • The email marketing is not quite as evolved as the rest of the product.
  • It can sometimes be a little difficult to get reports with the information you need, especially in some of the ancillary modules.
  • The new Event App is not as strong of a product as its sunsetted predecessor, but they are working on new updates for it every month.
  • Event & Registration Management
  • Event App
  • Venue Sourcing
  • I'm not involved in this type of information; however, I do know that Cvent is an integral part of our business operations.
I used Attendify for one event at my previous position, and it didn't remotely stack up in features, capabilities, or general aesthetics. Also at that position, I evaluated a few other software platforms, mainly due to the Cvent's pricing; however, I never really considered moving forward simply because our attendee history and analytics were so well tracked in Cvent, it was prohibitive to lose that information and start over.

Do you think Cvent Event Management delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cvent Event Management's feature set?

Yes

Did Cvent Event Management live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cvent Event Management go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cvent Event Management again?

Yes

Cvent is a pricey software, so it might not be appropriate for a small, one-off event. But if you are looking at tracking metrics for year-over-year events, or have an event with complex registration (multiple types of registrations or admissions, different registration elements for different people, etc.) Cvent is a fantastic choice to manage these types of scenarios and worth the investment.

Using Cvent Event Management

Cvent has a LOT of features and functionality. The "drag-and-drop" builder platform makes it easy to create web pages and the basic registration site, but as you add more features, such as additional registration paths, travel options, multi-attendee discounts, etc., the different settings required, sometimes in multiple areas, add to the complexity. Fortunately, there is plenty of online documentation available to help navigate that.
ProsCons
Like to use
Technical support not required
Well integrated
Consistent
Slow to learn
Lots to learn
  • The website builder
  • Basic registration paths
  • Building an agenda for both the website and registration
  • Adding speakers
  • Adding imaging is not difficult, but a bit cumbersome due to how the media library is set up.
  • Adding hotel and air requests to registration requires a bit of effort on the back end to make sure they show up with the correct options.
  • Setting up automatic discounts (for multi person, BOGO, etc.) can be difficult to navigate.
Yes - The site widgets are set up to be mobile compatible, and there is a preview option so you can see exactly how it will look. This is valuable for checking because sometimes the content doesn't line up in the order you would expect or prefer, especially when things are set up in columns.
