Overall Satisfaction with Deputy

We used Deputy primarily for frontline workers. It was important for us to have a system that allowed as much coordination among the team but still avoid situations where individuals ended up working beyond what was legally allowed for the country (i.e. limit to consecutive days, max hours in 7-day period, etc.). Also, we needed a system that was auditable, so that all interactions could be proven if there was ever confusion.
  • Easy to use interfaces.
  • Nice communication options (email, SMS, in-app).
  • Ability to build rules into skills required for specific slots.
  • Reporting is not reliable.
  • Difficulty exporting to payroll systems.
  • Customer service ignores engagement.
  • By switching away from Deputy to a payroll system that charged on a monthly basis at a rate similar to what we were being charged weekly with Deputy and better integration to our payroll system, we were able to improve our cost of labor by 1% of sales.
  • When we switched from Deputy to our new system, we were able to pay our employees one day earlier.
  • Reliable reporting from the new system allowed us to manage outplacement and employment disputes with 100% compliance with local laws, something we could not do when we would get conflicting data from Deputy.
We left Deputy for Roubler, more reliable, better integration to our payroll system, better customer service, and significantly cheaper.

Do you think Deputy delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Deputy's feature set?

Yes

Did Deputy live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Deputy go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Deputy again?

No

They have a really good UX team.
It is intuitive to set up and quick to learn how it works.
I suspect Deputy is better suited in industries where there are higher margins so that the cost of managing labor can be better absorbed with its pricing (factories, airlines, etc.). In lower waged settings, food, entertainment, etc. the cost-benefit often do not match up when considering other options in the marketplace.

Using Deputy
