Overall Satisfaction with Jamf Pro
For nearly five years, we've used Jamf Pro to manage our worldwide fleet of MacBook Pro laptops. When we started out with 20 MacBooks, it was enough to have one Mac expert to manually configure each MacBook. As we expanded to over 100 MacBooks, training our desktop support analysts, to semi-manually configure each Mac was sufficient. Once we reached 200 Macs, I reached out to Jamf.
Jamf Pro allows us to give each Mac user the "personal touch" without having to physically touch the MacBook. Thanks to the Self-Service component, we can offer our Mac a level of service delivery than exceeds our Windows users. All of our software packages and scripts are available with a single click, 24/7, anywhere in the world.

Pros
- The Self Service app is undoubtedly the most power feature of Jamf Pro, and was a primary selling point for us. Before Jamf Pro, we briefly deployed a similar product from a competitor that is well-known for Windows security, asset management, and software delivery products. While that same product was well-received by our Windows end-users, the Mac feature set was minimal and offered few of the functions available to Windows users.
Cons
- Jamf Pro can be pricey, especially if using the cloud software distribution point.
- Jamf Pro is cloud-hosted, saving us the cost and manpower to maintain and monitor a local instance.
- With self-enrollment, our end-users easily register their new MacBooks and Jamf Pro automagically configures all settings and installs base software applications. This frees our desktop support techs to work on more pressing issues.
Jamf Pro smokes the competition when it comes to the Mac end-user experience.
