Overall Satisfaction with Mailchimp

We use MailChimp to send out our clients' monthly newsletters and e-blasts. It is specifically used by the content team to create the emails and by the account manager team to measure metrics and analytics of how successful those emails are each month. It's much easier to use than previously used email marketing solutions.
  • Useability
  • Minimalistic, beautiful layout
  • Free (up to 2,000 Subscribers)
  • A/B testing
  • Have to upgrade to send automated emails
  • Support could be better
  • A greater opening rate
  • An increase in subscribers
Constant Contact is more expensive and hasn't (in the past) really had an A/B testing component. Despite that, it generally had better customer service. We decided to go with Mailchimp because of cost reasons and its more attractive formatting. I also think Mailchimp now charges based on total customers you are sending emails out to as opposed to just subscribed users. It makes a difference in overall cost so it's possible it's not the cheapest platform anymore!
You don't have to be a design pro or understand coding to use on a basic level. There are several layout formats as well as the option to customize and neither require a user to have an in-depth understanding of design or programming. There are multiple tutorials as well as informational blogs if you decide you want to have a greater understanding of the platform but it's not necessary to be successful.
Most of our work outside of email falls specifically in line with social media integration and I like how easy it is to do everything from one platform and have it be seamless and effective. I also like being able to pull metrics all from one place and have a greater understanding as to what is effective and what can be improved.
Having an ownership of our client's marketing from every aspect and not having to be a pro to begin has been huge for me. It's allowed me to grow in confidence, knowing where were being successful and speaking about that success with my clients. Also in the age of 'too many platforms', it's helped with time management and limiting the notifications and thus work/life balance in my own personal life. When everything lives in one place, I only have to worry about focusing in on my expertise there.
Google Analytics, Sprinklr Modern Engagement (formerly Social + Messaging Suite), Sprout Social, Google Authenticator, Squarespace
If you just want the basics, there are better and probably even cheaper platforms. This is a solution for someone who cares about looking good to their followers from graphics, to buttons to overall presentation. Furthermore, the metrics available within mailchimp are more in-depth and help businesses understand benchmarks so they can continue to improve future email campaigns.
