Overall Satisfaction with Marketo

Marketo is use for all of our email marketing, and starting with RTP, some of our web marketing. Personalizing email content and content streams has dramatically helped us address our messages to our audience.

Pros

  • We used Marketo to identify leads for top activist program and convert them to participants. Marketo's ability to listen for both email and website interaction helped us grow this conversion by 10x.
  • Marketo is flexible. We're able to adapt our practices to reflect new learnings across the instance quickly.
  • The nuanced reporting Marketo has really helps us sell performance and results across the organization.

Cons

  • Marketo can require a lot of clicks for a user to execute a task.
  • Marketo can become disorganized when there are lots of users working in the same environment.
  • Visibility into Marketo's infrastructure--how it delivers mail and processes large tasks--can be frustratingly clouded.
  • Marketo helped us boost conversion on a critical activism program by 10x.
  • We'd lost some revenue because of delays in processing or delivering truly massive email sends.

Marketo was more robust at marketing than any of the email-specific tools we compared it with.
If your goal is to instantly deliver the same message to hundreds of thousands of subscribers, Marketo isn't ideal. If you're a batch and blast company and want to stay that way, talk to Marketo's technical/engineering minded salespeople about your intended volume.
