Overall Satisfaction with Miro
I use it from lo-fi designs to planning and conducting workshops, to brainstorming, links and ideas dumping, all for collaboration and a reference to refer back to. It helps collaborate in ways that can't be done with Microsoft or design software, whether people have full access or restricted access. It has helped me feel confident in delivering a workshop from the planning, reviewing and executing to reflecting and understanding the outcomes of the session. I have been able to use it to also create a template for future workshops potentially. It's been a quick and easy way to share and collaborate for ideation in my team giving them a wide open space to collaborate with me on ideas we want to put forward.
Pros
- Intuitive execution, many people can pick up and go right away
- Templates and tools to play around with
- Consistency and evolving to meet many people's needs
Cons
- Parts of the Kanban tool could use some improvement and the freedom to customise a little better
- Being able to quickly change diagram elements like you can with shapes and stickies
- Better wireframe components. Some really good ones have been archived I think, it would be better to have better ways of expanding these elements
- Groups and layers, sending things behind or naming groups would be easier
- Awareness of Miro and it's capabilities have had team members keen to use and learn more
- Sharing and contributing to better methods of forming ideas has led to more testing
It really has helped with remote working. The whole team are remote and it means we can collaborate live or in our own time. I was able to host a workshop that was 50/50 remote and in the office. Without Miro the workshop probably wouldn't have gone ahead!

- Lucidchart and FigJam
Lucidchart felt really dated and difficult to use. It felt like windows 98. I'm sure people who like crazy ugly charts and the diagramming aspect but I couldn't get along with it. I found it quite buggy and elements wouldn't respond how I anticipated. It took a lot of learning for not a lot of reward. FigJam is a nice and clean whiteboard with very basic elements, but I always wanted to do more. Nice though that Figma and FigJam would work across each other so I could copy and paste directly from each place such as connecting lines or components.
