Primarily Prophix is used by our accounting department for reporting purposes but directors/managers throughout the organization use it to facilitate budget management and review budget-to-actual reports.
- Allows end users access to see a detailed view of their GL transactions without needing access to the GL software
- Easily editable reports for timely reporting after month/quarter/year ending periods
- Incredibly useful in maintaining a large and complicated budget across departments
- Explaining how to use Ad Hoc Analysis to non-accounting people can be difficult
- We often come across technical errors (timing out) at pivotal moments in the budgeting cycle
- User security is very straight-forward and not as customizable as we may prefer
- Streamlined budgeting and planning
Information from our GL system is automatically imported via a process every night while no one is in the office. This process is usually pretty seamless and when there is an issue it automatically emails the administrators in order to quickly correct the issue.
Currently ours is on-premise but we have been looking into new GL systems that are on "the cloud" and having that flexibility to adjust as technology changes is very beneficial from a business standpoint.
Prophix works much better for the myriad of tasks and needs from a reporting and budgeting standpoint across all departments. Acumatica did not have as wide of capabilities.
