Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct

We are partners that implement the software platform, and then deliver ongoing accounting services using that platform. We get a robust cloud-based accounting product for all of our clients. We specifically get better communication of underlying data and trends in our client's business through dashboards and automated reporting sent directly to client's email.
  • Dashboards
  • Multi-entity accounting and consolidations
  • Multi-currency revaluations
  • Assisting in the allocation of credit card transactions
  • Increased value we provide to our clients.
  • Increased efficiency in specific tasks.
This is the biggest improvement over prior accounting packages that our firm used. We now use the subledgers the way they are supposed to be used. Journal entries is not a good workflow! Now we have restricted the posting of journal entries to A/P and A/R subledgers via smart rules which allows us to always have a reconciliation of those subledgers.
We definitely use the multi-entity module, but are otherwise still a small business pricing model. The multi-entity module allows us to complete transactions at one level instead of constantly having to drop into a different company to perform tasks. We can also import transactions/journal entries at the top level and use the location dimension to tell the system which entity to post to.
It's complicated. As an accountant by trade, I need to put on my integration cap to be able to carefully design and implement a new system. There are so many ways to customize Intacct that we sometimes get lost in the different options and make mistakes that cannot be reversed along the way.
No question, Intacct is a vastly better product that the QuickBooks products. The internal controls are so much stronger and pass audits with flying colors. The audit trail that we get from Intacct is also helpful in producing supporting documentation for our auditors when requested to do so. We found QuickBooks to be nothing more than a glorified checkbook with some cute GUIs. Intacct however is a true accounting system.
Sage Intacct is best suited for companies that have outgrown their QBO world. When transactions become too complex, Intacct can add more dimensions to organize the data. If the volume of transactions gets too large, many smaller software systems freeze up and take too long to process the data. Intacct has been good about maintaining efficiency even with large volumes.
