Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365
Using it to back up Exchange Online mailboxes, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams across the entire org. It solves our legal retention needs and provides quick recovery of any item deleted from 365.

- Unable to backups to other sites for offsite retention or recovery needs.
- Ability to restore Exchange Online mailboxes directly to on-premise Exchange server.

- Ability to do our own backups and not outsource to third party saves us $~3,000k yearly.
We had a user that left the org and we removed that user's license from 365. Microsoft only keeps the mailbox or data for 30 days after removing the license. We needed to find something almost 90 days later and it was all gone from 365. We purchased Veeam Backup for 365 right after that. Now we can recover any 365 item from Veeam anytime, no matter how long it's been. I just had a restore request recently and the restore required me to go back almost one year to find something and it was all there. Recovered everything we needed in 5 minutes. Lifesaver!
We had some items that were accidentally deleted from SharePoint Online and it was past the 30-day recycle bin retention. I checked Veeam Backup for 365 and it was all there. Quickly restored all missing items to the original location.
We have exported many previous employee mailboxes to .pst for archival purposes. This used to be a manual process and required almost an hour of time. Now it takes less than 10 minutes to complete a pst export for archiving.
Veeam Explorer is a great feature because I can quickly verify my backups are intact and data is recoverable. Mailbox export to PST is another awesome feature we use often.
We chose Veeam over Active Sync because we could trust that Veeam was going to run every day and email a report if it failed or succeeded. Active Backup notoriously did not run for some reason or another and we would have to check on it to even see that it did not run.
