123FormBuilder (formerly 123ContactForm)

If you have a lot of customer interaction with your site, where you need to collected specific, targeted, situational data, 123FormBuilder is an absolute winner. If your site is more information and perhaps leads to a software platform or other product or service, 123FormBuilder might prove unnecessarily robust for you. Something simpler and cheaper might make more sense for you. But in most cases where you're seeking to collect information from customers, I'd happily recommend 123FormBuilder.

Medallia

Medallia can be used as a stand-alone customer experience management system but I find great value in using Medallia completely integrated with Salesforce. It then creates a force to be reckoned with. In B-to-B this it is very important to have a real-time customer experience system so that you know what your customers are saying at any given minute. And I can't begin to tell you how important this is for a SaaS company.

Pros

  • Ease of constructing a form with requisite inputs
  • Customizable look and feel options based on varying requirements in our case
  • Logic based branching & validation
  • Medallia has an excellent system for generating surveys and exporting them to customers, then importing the data received from completed surveys back into the system. The streamlined process is simple and efficient.
  • I'm a big fan of the reports visible to employees in Medallia. You can manage who sees what data and what reports and it's visually stimulating at the same time.
  • The process of creating a survey from scratch is easy and quick. There isn't a lot of management needed in order to get your survey looking great and up and running.

Cons

  • One-off payment integration requires a higher subscription
  • Storage is not commensurate with pricing
  • Not exactly a strong negative, but could work on pricing it better for non-US markets
  • The overall backend layout to administrators of Medallia could still use some work. It takes some getting used and can be pretty clunky.
  • Some configuration work can be more complicated than necessary and cause problems that are difficult to solve.
  • The way the system creates a role hierarchy of users is also complicated and seems like it could be easier to manage if presented in a different way.

I installed 123ContactForm myself and while I had some issues installing it I was able to visit their website and the troubleshooting information they provided in their faq section. They did offer other support if a user needed additional support, but I found the information provided on their website to be more than sufficient

Alternatives Considered

Looked at Zoho Forms, Google Forms, Form Assembly and a couple of others. In general there is a variety of features and it would not be wise to negatively rate any of the others. But purely from a price-feature mix, we chose to use 123ContactForm over the others and in that context it was ideal for us.
If you have a very large business with multiple outlets, Medallia is a reasonable choice to make because of the major scalability and the vast amounts of data you can collect. If you are a small, one-off, or independent business, it can be very costly and not all of the tools are necessary for you. I do not like the user experience or report visualizations as much as the reports on Revinate and TrustYou. Revinate is my favorite of the three so far.

Return on Investment

  • It helped with supplier/client information leakage. Occasionally during fast on-boarding information gets left out which later may create issues during filing (or in unfortunate cases of dispute).
  • Payment requests by suppliers & remittance info from clients was easily logged ensuring easy information flow.
  • Improved cost basis for information gathering for clients
  • You have full visibility into what your customers are thinking on a wide spectrum, allowing you to get out of specific anecdotes and really determine your strengths and weaknesses.
  • You'll be able to make your customers feel more valued in asking for their feedback in improving, adding another layer of positive to the customer experience.
  • Medallia will help your employees learn what they're doing well and where they can get better, automatically helping to keep all of your employees continuously improve.
