Adobe Marketo Engage
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
Adobe Marketo Engage is the best since it barely shine on inbound marketing but also focuses on large to global enterprises complex B2B-buying journey, lead management and external CRM integrations which is contrary in HubSpot Marketing Hub
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
We chose Adobe Marketo Engage over hubspot because of the advance tools they have.
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
Adobe Marketo Engage is one of the more well known marketing automation tools available and is comparable to Salesforce Marketing Cloud with its technical lift and robust customization. Hubspot and Pardot are more user friendly and don't require as much custom coding or …
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
I think Adobe Marketo Engage is the best out of all of them. Well, at least for 85% of the B2B businesses with a single business focus/sales force. For larger organizations with multiple business units and sales teams, all needing to share the same database, I think Oracle Eloqu…
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
We started with Adobe Marketo Engage and used them for around 5 years. However, we did not grow much with the tool and support and customer success did little to help us with our growth in the tool. So the cost was not justifiable so we switched to a different provider at less …
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
[...] is a partner of HubSpot, and we are mutual customers of each other. This may be because HubSpot is a [...] investor, but roughly half of [...]'s customers are Adobe Marketo Engage customers (the other half being HubSpot customers).
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
Both from price and feature perspective, Adobe Marketo Engage stands up against those platforms. It may not have some niche features that other platforms offer, but overall it is the right solution for any B2B company with 50+ employees.
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
Marketo was selected before I started this role. I much prefer HubSpot's user-friendly layout and modern functions, email editor, landing page editor, and visual workspaces. It's also a much more searchable tool that's easier to navigate. If I could switch to HubSpot I would …
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
Better control on data and many options for lead scoring, email optimization is great and tracking email Deliverability is just awesome
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
Both have the same automation principles, but Marketo seems (and is) much wider and broader. There wasn't a thing I wanted to do and Marketo didn't have the solution or tools for it.
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
The possibility of running complex marketing campaigns and seamless integration options along with the email editor & detailed analytics was the reason why we went ahead with Marketo over all the other vendors. We were using one of the vendors in the list above but as our …
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
During my professional experience, I had the opportunity to use Adobe Marketo Engage alongside other solutions like HubSpot and Salesforce Marketing Cloud. While these tools offer advanced capabilities, especially in terms of integration and automation, Marketo Engage stands …
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
Marketo is the most comprehensive and robust marketing automation platform that I've worked in. It has everything that an organization may need from your standard marketing functions (i.e. email campaigns, landing pages, forms) to automated workflows. One downside is that there …
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
Adobe Marketo Engage is better suited for someone with strong IT knowledge. Its customization abilities are why we ultimately chose it over Hubspot and Pardot.
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
So we migrated to Marketo from Salesforce Marketing Cloud which was just too simple of a product and difficult to use and didn't have a lot of functionality that we needed. This has definitely been a huge upgrade for us from Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Then when we were looking …
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
We have selected it based on lead management, nurturing, integration with CRM, and basic reporting. Marketo Engage is far better than Hubspot in terms of Microservice architecture, incremental scoring, APIs, webhooks, etc. The email dynamic content module is at par as compared …
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
Marketo provides email marketing services but does so much more.
While Hubspot, SFMC, and ActiveCampaign have more automation, they do not come close to the customization that Marketo allows you to create.
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
I find HubSpot to be much better, in my opinion. It is more intuitive, user-friendly, less steps to achieve something. It did require some upfront work to integrate it how I wanted with SFDC, which Adobe Marketo Engage may handle better out of the box, but from a day-to-day …
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
I enjoyed how intuitive hubspot was, however, Marketo has the ability to do more if you're willing to invest the time into it. Marketo is by far the most customizable and feature rich in my opinion.
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
Definitely integration support with other Adobe products. For an organization that uses Adobe AEM, Analytics etc , Marketo is a clear winner.
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
I’ve selected Marketo multiple times at different orgs as it’s the best MAP available. It has very few weaknesses whereas the other have far more pro’s and con’s
Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
Marketo was already onboarded when I joined the company.
While migrating from a platform to another is a challenge, all enterprise marketing automation platforms offer similar functionalities. These are tools, and the team using them will define how successful these are.

Chose Adobe Marketo Engage
Marketo is the best of the three options listed above for large enterprise organizations. Hubspot is the most user-friendly out of all of them, however. Pardot is definitely last on the list out of the three due to its limited capabilities. Once you get the hang of Marketo …

Chose Cision Communications Cloud
There was one other product we looked at, but I don't recall what it was. Cision was so far ahead in terms of what it had to offer, that the decision at the time was a no-brainer for us. We've been happy with the product and we continue to learn and optimize our use as we …

Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub
I have used and evaluated Marketo, Pardot, and Mailchimp alongside HubSpot Marketing Hub.
Marketo offers a deeper automation but it's tougher to use.
Pardot integrates well with Salesforce but not much useful for B2C. Mailchimp is great for simple email marketing but lacks …
Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub
We and our clients have used all of these platforms and where they fall short is ...

Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub

Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub

Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub
We already used RD Station, but we left because RD Station did not solve some of our main problems. Despite the high cost, HubSpot brought several solutions related to the analysis of marketing data and tracking of lead actions. It was really essential to bring new information …
Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub
While Mailchimp and Hootsuite themselves offer a nice set of features (let's leave Mailchimp's merely non-existent end-user support alone) having them all and even more under one hood is really really cool. And that's what HubSpot offers altogether. HubSpot's user-friendly …
Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub

HubSpot is by far the most user-friendly, which means it's more likely to be fully deployed by customers. We help people move from both of the mentioned competing platforms because the user experience is so difficult that the products aren't being used.
Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub
My organization made the decision to switch from Hubspot to Marketo. I wish they hadn't. The change may have made sense on a marketing perspective, but from a sales perspective it has HUGELY impacted our ability to leverage the tool for lead generation. Hubspot is way more user …
Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub
My personal ranking for marketing automation is 1) Marketo, 2) Hubspot and 3) Eloqua. Hubspot is great for small businesses and even medium-sized business. Once you reach 500 or more, you're probably going to want Marketo. I wouldn't recommend Eloqua to any business that can't …
Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub

Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub

Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub
HubSpot does a number of marketing activities all in one, easy platform. We can do things like email, blog, lead nurturing, keyword research, reports, buyer personas, etc.
Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub
HubSpot's Enterprise marketing plan blows Marketo's reciprocal plan out of the water. From all angles, I've by and large been taken aback by the difference between the two platforms when both are said to be "industry-leading." From reporting to email deliverability to design to …
Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub
Whilst Marketo is reasonable we didn't find it gave us the flexibility required in terms of defining our own marketing automation workflows. This is even more crucial when tailoring the product to a client as they often have wildly different requirements.
Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub
There are many great marketing automation platforms and I am always interested in evaluating them. I often find, however, that the competitors' assumptions regarding Hubspot's capabilities (or lack thereof) are misinformed or simply wrong. I have seen interesting features in …
Chose HubSpot Marketing Hub
In the past, I've worked with companies that use both Marketo and Pardot. Pardot is an absolutely horrible solution, I don't know why anyone would ever buy it or use it. There are many way better options that are much cheaper than Pardot, so why even bother with their solution? …

Adobe
Adobe Marketo Engage is an excellent tool for hosting registration forms and sending out tokenized emails based on a particular person's information within your database. For example, if someone attends an event or webinar and indicates that they'd like to learn more about your product, then Adobe Marketo Engage can easily trigger a specific email template to that person that will be personalized with tokens about them. The pixel tracking that can be applied to any web page is also very helpful. If you want to focus on a more 1:1 type of follow up with a Lead, then the automated emails are not going to be as useful.

Cision
For a small start-up, the cost-benefit to add lift to press releases [and] particular milestone accomplishments is definitely there with the Cision [Communications] Cloud. Much of what we do, by necessity, is done internally without the benefit of outsourced press folks, so the Cision [Communications] Cloud ease of use and reporting is very important.

HubSpot
As I said previously, I was not a fan at the beginning because, like everyone, I don't take change so well. Once I started following leads through HubSpot Marketing Hub, I integrated it with my email and created templates for what I needed, I started to see the positives immediately. My time working was better spent as I eliminated time put in routine tasks. I was able to track all communication in HubSpot Marketing Hub, we created systems in the office assigning tasks to one another and, through HubSpot Marketing Hub, our leads were able to book meetings in my calendar automatically. To be honest, if you are in sales and marketing, I cannot think of scenarios where HubSpot Marketing Hub cannot help. All I would like to say is, when using templates, pay attention to where you send them - you may need some personalization. I would encourage the management of HubSpot Marketing Hub to create short tutorials for beginners like me who need to configure and start using various features: setting up deals, templates, and dashboards.

Pros
Adobe
  • It keeps all of our very important lead data in one place. It's very flexible, allows us to do a lot of different things around list building and segmentation. It deploys our email campaigns for us and it's also where our landing pages are built. So it does a lot of the things that we need to do from a data and deployment perspective.

  • Their upgraded press release templates and ability [to] pull in an entire, completed release makes the [process] faster and easier, and allows for more graphics, such as company mastheads, [are done well].
  • The media tracking offers the ability to find relevant placements across the entire country.
  • The journalist database streamlines the process of finding relevant reporters to directly connect [to] on news releases that are relevant to their beats.
  • The process of setting up, creating, and distributing a release is seamless, easy to use, and not labor-intensive.

  • All-in-one software - the main thing HubSpot does well is the breadth of functionality.
  • Easy of use - personally, I find it more intuitive than Marketo, which is the other MAP that I know well.
  • Ads - I like that we can drill down on ads by channel, ad group, campaign, and even create and see performance data at each level.

Cons
Adobe
  • Adobe Marketo Engage crashes a lot or freezes. We don't have many users and less than 300k contacts so there's no reason it should ever crash.
  • It's really expensive! It would be nice to pick which features we want a la cart versus being stuck paying more for a feature and not using the others in the package.
  • Because of our integration with Dynamics, we had to use a 3rd party tool called Scribe for field matching. No one at Adobe will help us now that we have a 3rd party tool

Cision
  • In the media influencer database, the classic Cision allowed us to do a zip code radius search to really drill down to the neighborhood level. That's because we do localized media advisories and press releases for events at neighborhood schools. One part of a big city like Chicago really doesn't care what's happening in another part of Chicago that's too far away. The zip code radius search was a feature in the classic Cision but not with the current Cision Communications Cloud. We've asked for this to be restored several times, but nothing's happened. In fact, we were told to use DMA — which actually goes wider in a search (bigger than a city), not more narrow as needed. This reflects a basic misunderstanding of what we need.
  • Another missing feature involves a merge field when sending out an email press release through Cision. This is the "select insert field" button in the upper right that's used to personalize a release with the media contact's name and other information. This is key for localization of the release. Many media outlets won't run a release unless it's local. While "county" is a feature in the influencer database when putting together a media list in Cision, "county" is not available to insert into a press release as a merge field. Counties are important because this is how many newspapers and health departments are organized and identify themselves. I've asked for this to be implemented, to no avail. As a workaround, we've had to use "contact city" or "outlet city."
  • After refining a media list in Cision using filters, I've had to download the list and take it offline to see the big picture, screen for duplicates, etc. While there is a button on the bottom left intended to help with this, it doesn't do the trick. That's because there may be multiple contacts with the same email address. In addition, one media contact may represent numerous media outlets, so this same contact could show up several times. It would be nice to have a better way to see the whole list online and eliminate both duplicates as well as those who previously opted out.

  • While Hubspot has added some collaborative tools, I think this could improve. I'd like to see more options to comment on emails and ways of being able to share out changes as well as approval channels.
  • The ability to update ads via the calendar is pretty cumbersome. There's no good way to bulk edit or update. You have go into each one individually.
  • Real time edits would be nice. If you have multiple people working on the same thing, you'll get kicked out and your changes might not be saved.

We're likely to renew for several reasons:
  • Now that it's been implemented, I can't imagine not having marketing automation and the easy interface that Marketo provides to run our campaigns
  • Marketo's community and customer service is fantastic; I know that when I need help, I'll get it
  • Marketo continues to improve the product, so I know that I can expect it to be even more useful in the future

While I am happy with the product performance overall, TrendKite's recent merger with Cision is cause for concern. When we first signed on with TrendKite, I spoke with several users and the best response I received was that the company was a startup and we could expect there to be hiccups along the way as the company grew and the platform got more robust. That has certainly been the case. However, now that they have merged with Cision — a company that has grown too fast, has not focused on improving its product and has poor customer service — I have concerns that TrendKite will lose some of the qualities that have made it a great company and great product to work with.

Our business relies on the HubSpot platform to manage our marketing, sales and CRM processes. HubSpot marketing automation helps us define our activities and streamlines them in a cohesive and efficient way. Without HubSpot, we will have to revert to the 'old way' of doing everything with a variety of disparate systems.

Usability
Adobe
In some aspects, the tool can feel quite clunky in parts. But with the rich feature set it has, it's understandable. There is a lot of room for improvement for the user interface. The system itself doesn't have a slick or modern feel, so the usability could feel nicer to use with these areas considered.

The flexibility and customization of Cision Communications Cloud (TrendKite)* is among its most important features. Changing the dashboards, using keywords in the saved searches to pull out the best stories and the integration with marketing automation tools gives me confidence that I will able to continue using this tool well into the future. The future implementation and integration of the media contact database will complete the suite, making list management and email marketing programs much smoother. *This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.

Reliability and Availability
Adobe
Marketo provides different way and abilities to connect. If you are having product support or unexplained errors you can get someone on Marketo support 24 hours a day. One of Marketo's greatest assets in my opinion however would be the community. Often times our company is just looking for case success stories from someone else. In the community you can search for problems you are currently facing and see others having the same issue and solutions for those issues. If not, you can pose a question to the whole community and champions of the product and others can chime in to provide suggestions to fix your needs. The community is truly a 24/7 place to get your answers quickly.

With all the new features in HubSpot, the system can get a tad slow sometimes... That said, most of the time it is lightning fast and I have no problems. Because most of the integrations are API, they silently work in the background. I have not had trouble with lag due to HubSpot integration

Support Rating
Adobe
On multiple occasions we've had Marketo support (technical and license based) issues. Technical issues were minor and resolved within a day. License based issues (even things encouraged by Marketo for partners, like provisioning another license) took WEEKS. They actually took so long to respond that the client we were working with withdrew from the contract because they were no longer convinced Marketo was capable of supporting their business. As an agency trying to sell the software, you can only explain away so much before they just made us look silly.

For Cision TrendKite in particilar, support always responded, but it was sometimes slow. For some of our booleans and search queries, we would need help refining and excluding terms/phrases that weren't relevant to our client or campaign. This sometimes took 1-2 days just to get a response back, which sometimes was too late when a last-minute report was due. This was only with the support staff, not necessarily our customer success manager or sales rep.

During the few times I've needed it, HS support has been accessible, helpful and efficient. Often rolling up their sleeves to make changes for you as opposed to leaving you with a list of instructions to decipher on your own.

In-Person Training

Our account rep stopped out in Lincoln, NE to ensure we were properly set up and running. This was very much appreciated. I was very, very new at this point, so I can't comment very much on the extent of what was taught because I was still brand new to the company and the system

I did the 2-day classroom at HubSpot's corporate office in Cambridge. First off, it was amazing to see their corporate office in general. They have such a cool office environment. But it was also great to have the ability to learn in a workshop format with other HubSpot users and meet my Account Manager/ Inbound Marketing Consultant in person.

Online Training

I had never used Marketo prior to taking this job so online training was my starting point. I was able to follow along, it was interesting and quickly and efficiently taught me what I needed to know without a lot of fluff. It was far from boring and really helped me get my hands dirty with Marketo.

The online training sessions available for the Cision Communications Cloud are helpful and informative. There's more than one option - initially, I signed up for the live webinar classes on basic functions and that is what I recommend other new users do as well. If I have specific questions or something I want to learn more about, I can search the online database and find article or online training videos to get the information I need.

I went through Inbound Marketing University in 2006. Great training and helped my transition from traditional (outbound) marketing to inbound marketing that I've been able to apply to a number of businesses from wastewater and water reuse, to professional services and SaaS. Share information of value to build awareness and trust. Answer customers' questions in a transparent way to generate more qualified leads. Understand the difference between a marketing qualified lead and a sales qualified lead and put together a lead nurturing program. Your sales and marketing efforts will see significant ROI.

Implementation Rating
Adobe
1. Have a content marketing plan to run in parallel with the marketing automation installation--you'll need a lot of content to make full use of Marketo's capabilities. 2. Work with sales (and ISRs) to define and document a workflow--build your Marketo installation around how you do business--not figure out how to apply your business to the tools 3. Spend time of data cleaning--both an initial project as well as a strategy for ongoing data management. We found some change manaement issues (no more appending ZZZ to the first name to identify contacts who have left the company, for example, or prohibiting the entry of "info@company.com" email addresses). 4. Find some champions in the sales and ISR teams. You'll have both fans and detractors--work with the fans to build some success stories

There is no implementation at the customer's end so this doesn't really apply to my instance of Cision (possibly to all instances of it).

My biggest piece of advice for those who are implementing Hubspot is that you need to devote the time up front and learn how to use the product. Once you learn how to use Hubspot, it will be much more effective as well as much easier to use in the long run

Alternatives Considered

Adobe Marketo Engage is one of the best email sending platforms I have worked with, because there is so much you can do on a lead scoring area and also then connect this to other platforms such as Salesforce. It allows for seamless reporting and working alongside sales colleagues. We chose Adobe Marketo Engage because it allows for more sophisticated audience segmentation and management of ongoing large scale nurture flows across a number of complex criteria.

It's a similar product. I think Meltwater sells itself as being a bit more niche, but I have not found many significant differences between Meltwater and Cision. Meltwater's sales process is a very high pressure and their prices are inflated.

Other competing software such as Zoho and Boomtown may have more bells and whistles, but it is too cumbersome and has many parts that only advanced users can operate. With HubSpot, each function is within reach of the average agent. It doesn't overpromise and then makes you feel incompetent when you can't use it all...

Scalability
Adobe
We look at scaleability in a few different ways. First, the speed while using Marketo has remained relatively the same as our database has grown. Though I would say Marketo is slow at times, it has not gotten slower over the last few years. If anything, it has improved, and they are working to improve it. Second, the amount of programs we have developed in Marketo has exponentially grown as well. Marketo has allowed us to drastically increase our output without having to drastically increase our headcount.

HubSpot is addressing this more and more. Currently you can assign tasks to designated sales teams, which grow as you grow. They've added free baseline products for those just getting started. These and more contribute to the scalability of HubSpot - so I gave it an 8 and am hoping for more in the future!
