Yieldex is well suited when you want to analyze yield. Gone are the days when people asked me for new reports and I turned them away. I can always create a new report quickly. However, it does not generate nice looking charts for you. You still need to download the report and create charts yourself.

Google Ads

We've found that Ads is suitable for well-defined products/services. If a product falls within a new or niche category, it's less effective. YouTube advertising can be effective at educating an audience, but targeting a desired audience can be difficult. It's also easy to waste a budget by using overly broad targeting. Like many tools, it can help you when used right or hurt you when used wrong.

Pros

  • As per my experience they have strong support personnel. Solving the issues as and when required.
  • We can solve certain issues like campaign performance, inventory optimization and more with the help of AppNexus wiki. We get all the required information in the Wiki itself.
  • They have given the right platform to both buyers and sellers to workout and meet their digital marketing needs and goals.

  • The ability to target by FSA in the postal code is quite helpful, as several of our clients are local businesses with local clientele.
  • The reporting functionality is robust and customizable, as well as fairly easy to use.
  • The user interface is fairly simple and straightforward, especially compared to other advertising platforms.
  • The ability to target users by creating custom affinity groups is quite handy and allows us to segment our audience well.

Cons

  • Better visualization and dashboard will make it a perfect product.
  • The product concept is hard to master. More video training in addition to the interactive training may help.
  • More report templates will make my life easier since it takes time to build one.

  • AdWords editor doesn't allow for the editing of Dynamic Search Ads (DSA) campaigns. I would like for this to be changed, as I prefer to see my changes before they go live, however for DSAs you are unable to do this and all changes have to occur live in the account.
  • I would like to see a functionality that allows you to apply an audience list to a device, without the need to create a separate device-specific campaign. This would be beneficial if you see a certain type of user is more likely to click on a specific device.
  • I would like to see the user interface to change slightly to allow for more visibility of overall performance in a graph. This could be done by setting primary and secondary KPIs in the account and then these could be displayed on a top-level chart. The idea of this is to see where drops and peaks occur and where you could investigate it more.

I love almost everything about AppNexus because I feel like the user data is easy to track because of the identifiers, you can see which adverts got clicked and which were ignored. We can track the location of the ad on the page fold and this makes it so much easier for future campaigns. The only thing I don't like is that the data is only kept for a year, and I'd like it for a longer period of time

AdWords is a great place to start for most clients looking to do internet marketing. The low cost of entry and potential for highly targeted traffic makes it tough to beat.

Very quick UI. Put together in a very intuitive and simple manor, while allowing users to go into the depths of functionality if they want

Because the support team does give you support, they take 24hrs to get back to you but once they open a ticket they focus on resolving the issue for you. My only problem is that you don't have a specific account representative assigned to you.

Alternatives Considered

Appnexus reporting was significantly more granular than Rubicon. It's reporting also was better organized and felt more trustworthy when pulling historical data.

AdWords is obviously dominant in terms of lead generation compared to Bing due to the power and popularity of its search engine. Beyond this, it often leads the field in innovation and Bing is forced to follow to remain relevant. That said, Bing is much cheaper in terms of CPCs and is pushed as hard as possible in our organisation. Account management from the AdWords teams at Google is also far superior to Bing.

Return on Investment

  • Allowed more effective organization of programmatic campaigns with a proven whitelist of appropriate sites.

  • AdWords drives around a third of all revenue via leads for the organisation as a whole. It is an essential part of the company's marketing outlay in a highly competitive market.
  • It is a highly expensive form of marketing, and that cost is always rising. Cost per clicks is known to increase by double figure percentages every year.
  • Currently AdWords spend is managed to stay within the overall marketing cost-of-sale targets and therefore reaches parity with offline channels etc.
