The key questions I would ask are:Am I seeking the ability to educate with interactive content or document education? HealthcareSource NetLearning is stronger in documenting.How specific do I need to be in educating? For house-wide and department-wide assignments HealthcareSource NetLearning works great. Distinguishing to micro-groups are more difficult.Do I want to integrate with other products? This is impossible at this time. (3rd party courseware is possible, I am speaking of 3rd party report building software and other software integrations.)

SAP Litmos

As an LMS it is intuitive and has a user-friendly design for both the learner and the administrator, making it accessible for almost all learners. It was designed for learning predominantly so it's great for hosting content such as SCORM packages, videos, documents etc - but improved focus on using it as both a comms and community platform, as is becoming increasingly required within the L&D space, would be advantageous as the news and discussion forums are a bit underwhelming. But it's not its core purpose, so that's understandable. The sheer volume of integrations and features that just keep coming, keeps its appeal and allows us to keep evolving the learner experience.

  • To allow our team members choice, we offer training as either/or. The current system does not record either/or completions
  • To end enrollment of new hires for training at a set date, requires also ending the training of all those not yet completed.

  • Searching for teams is a challenge, as we have to enter the entire name (or know exactly how it starts), since all our locations start with Harvest of _________, it means having to type that and not just the unique indicator that would be in the blank.
  • Some reporting capability could be improved, as it only provides the latest iteration of something rather than historical data.
  • Ability to view/print an organization structure with Litmos is still a challenge.

For what we need in the very near future, Litmos does not offer us the required capability. Ideally, we are looking for an integrated LMS, coaching, mobile support and content creation platform. Litmos may have the LMS part covered but there are other platforms that do this better along with providing an integrated all-in-one service or at the very least support API integration with other vendors to meet our requirements.

I think overall usability is good to great. The user and admin interface is customizable and very easy to use. Litmos does release new features every quarter and it definitely enhances and builds value for the product. Our Company uses the Litmos system extensively, probably more than the majority of Litmos clients. With feature releases, we tend to notice bugs but they are quick to fix the major ones.

The knowledgebase is very generic, so beyond some basic, "this is how you use Litmos", I am not super impressed with the self-service options for troubleshooting issues or finding best practices from peers. Getting a response from specialists also takes a great deal of effort. The initial ticket is almost never where my answer comes from, so I have to wait on the escalation to take place, and usually that goes to an account specialist. Once I get that, there is usually a back and forth before we agree on what the issue is. Service is always courteous, but not efficient. I am never sure where my ticket stands with regard to escalation/processing, so I have to inquire. Service tickets and service are not a clean process right now, at least not for me. Nothing like it was during our implementation.

A key insight for implementation would be to take advantage of the very extensive SAP Litmos Dojo training platform before you start designing the internal structure of the Teams and other processes. You want to get your Teams structure worked out first before you start anything else. It is the building blocks for a lot of things.

SAP Litmos

Each one of the other products reviewed had one or more required features missing. A big feature that most other LMS's didn't have was a native iOS or Android application; or if there was a mobile application, it was quite frankly difficult to use and unintuitive. The Litmos Applications worked relatively well, were simple to use and enabled us to complete all of our necessary requirements. Other features that the competition struggled with was training material compatibility; Litmos allowed for SCORM or Tin Can, videos, PowerPoint, PDFs, etc. where other programs didn't allow us to add many of these formats.

  • The reporting we are able to extract from Litmos is amazing and has saved us tons of man hours.
  • SAP Litmos is extremely user friendly and our associates like logging in because of this.
  • The limitations of the assignment feature has had an impact on the Operations Training Team and the system administrator because of the removal and the assignment functionality.
